Surat al-Kafirun (There is no compulsion in religion)

1022

Surat al-Kafirun

“Say: Kafirun” That is, those who do not adopt religion. “I do not worship what you worship, and you do not worship what I worship.” That is, I do not adopt your faith. I have no relation whatsoever with your faith or your belief. “nor will you worship what I worship.” That is, you may also not adopt Islam. “Nor will I worship what you worship” That is, it is obvious that I will not comply with your way. “Nor will you worship what I worship.” That is, it is obvious that you will not abide by my Allah and my religion unless otherwise willed by Allah. Notice that it is said; “You have your deen (religion) and I have my deen (religion).” Is there any oppression here? None. Is there any compulsion here? None. Everyone is free. This is the most that one can tell to a person. “You have your deen (religion) and I have my deen (religion).” I will not bother you and you do not bother me.
