Surat al’Asr verses 1-3

By the Late Afternoon,

truly man is in loss –

except for those who have faith and do right actions  and urge each other to the truth and urge each other to steadfastness.

“By the Late Afternoon, truly man is in loss …”

All mankind is in loss, Allah says. “...except for those who have faith.” Who believe “...and do right actions,” they have to have both. They have to have faith and do right actions “...and urge each other to steadfastness.” In other words, they have to encourage one another to believe in the Qur’an, Islam, the system of the Mahdi, the return of Jesus the Messiah, to favor peace and beauty and to oppose war, to do all the right things and “...urge each other to steadfastness.”  They must not ask, “Why is there still no Islamic Unity, why are we still suffering?” They must not ask, “Why are there all these problems?” They must be steadfast because paradise and Allah’s mercy comes after steadfastness. If you are not steadfast, you have lost. If you say you cannot encourage the truth, you have lost. Allah promises they will lose out. The whole world is in loss. They are suffering economic crises and troubles and they can find no ease because they do not have faith. If they did, they would be honest. And they are not steadfast. They do not urge one another to be steadfast. So you lose, says Allah. These commandments are clear and easy, but if you spurn them, sorrows will rain down.
