What He Said?What Happened?

One of the issues Mr. Adnan Oktar dwells on during his daily discourses is arts, aesthetics and progress in quality. Mr. Oktar relates that in Turkey, services rendered are good but in the absence of arts, aesthetics and quality, services like the construction of bridges or buildings would be worthless. He recommends that to this end, the state must aim for works that makes “quality” the main target.

Prime Minister Erdogan made a statement about  World Environment Day and said, “A city only made of concrete and asphalt would be a mechanical city deprived of a spirit and thus their target is to build cities that would inspire poets and painters.”

(In Italy, the 39 year old PM declares the members of his cabinet and the most striking aspect is out of sixteen members, eight of them are ladies)

ADNAN OKTAR: That is so fine. That aspect of Italians is so fine. Ladies are free, ladies are beautiful and well-groomed. People are joyful. They are fond of arts, they are very inclined to arts, they are very talented in terms of arts. They present a great soul. This is also what we want in Turkey. In the absence of arts, in the absence of quality and beauty you can do as many bridges and highways as you want; that would do no good. Arts, aesthetics, faith, joy, fear of God; love of God must surround everywhere. It must be everywhere.

ADNAN OKTAR: I kindly ask our PM to show his open support for a modern lifestyle, modern people and modernity. In my opinion that would be so fine, because Europe and America are both modern. Every corner of the world loves modernity. Even in Pakistan modernity is loved. It is a conservative society, but even they seek a modern PM. Of course, even in Iran they look for modern people. They elect someone who is a reformer. Even radicals love modernity. They appear as if they are against it but they love it.

ADNAN OKTAR: A society full of modernity and joy is beautiful. A society which is cool and gray is not acceptable; a quality society full of joy and life must be the goal of government and the state.

ADNAN OKTAR: Prime Minister Erdogan is a person who with his own life shows his being against a radical Islamic conception. Both he and his spouse are modern people, but under the pressure made by radicals, that is all he can accomplish. Otherwise he is a person open to arts and liberties. He is a person who desires  a vivid life and all the facilities he opens are ultra-modern ones. He makes all the state-of-the-art technology be used. He wants advancement in science and technology.

ADNAN OKTAR: Accomplishing results in the economy is not sufficient by itself. Arts, science, aesthetics, beauty, and above all love. These are very important.

May 10th, 2014: A9 TV

ADNAN OKTAR: In Turkey, radicals want a joyless, dull people. As we see it, the entire world likes aesthetics and beauty; God created the spirit of all human beings inclined to love and aesthetics. That is why beautiful civilizations came into existence. For instance we go to London; the streets are very beautiful, we go to Paris, also very beautiful. But we go to Afghanistan; it is  a mess; full of mud, filth, squalid people, devastated buildings, a grey, dark-brown dead life. They don’t think, “Why do people live in such a scourge?” While we could have a vivid, joyful, beautiful, idyllic world, while the Qur'an promised it, why is there  such a mess, they don’t think about it. This happens as a result of which your hands offer. This is what is related in the verse. God shows these cities as cities in a mess, as dead cities.

ADNAN OKTAR: There are so many places, so many beauties but they are crude. Beauty cannot be crude. Beauty must be gentle. They don’t attach importance to delicacy. For instance there is delicacy in the conception of arts in the past. Then a time of crudeness and coarseness began in the 2000s. 2021s are the years that they will grow perfect. In those years we will no longer see this crudeness. But until the 2000s we have witnessed this crudeness. Everything will be delicate; buildings will be delicate, gardens will be so. For instance they make gardens but they are very dull. They only plant pine trees all over; all at the same height with military uniformity. That is not acceptable. They construct buildings; they don’t have any soul. We look at the people; their clothes have a functional appearance but have no aesthetics and beauty. They don’t pay any attention to anything. They only look for the functionality. They set tables, they don’t have any aesthetics. A real Muslim is an artist. Every real Muslim is an artist.

June 6th, 2013: A9 TV

ADNAN OKTAR: One of the most important targets of powers is quality. For instance there is no quality. The truth of the matter is that in Turkey the quality is low. Services are beautiful but quality is low. For instance an airport is built but it must be beautiful with its greenery, classiness, modernity. They only focus on functionality. All right, the buildings are strong and they built very strong buildings, but they are crude. Not having any quality.

We need to give primary importance to quality. Improvement in quality is of vital importance. We are a country of Europe, not some third-world country. Quality is of the utmost importance in our lives. Being sensitive to the environment is very important. We see that our PM will attach primary importance to this, we sense that. Insha’Allah, it will be better.

June 19th, 2013: A9 TV

ADNAN OKTAR: A conception of arts and quality as Europe perceives it is the right of Turkey; the conception of democracy is also Turkey’s right.

A Ministry of Culture and Arts; affliated to the Ministry of Culture. Or a Ministry of Culture-Quality may be established. There is a benefit in gathering arts and quality in a ministry that will include them all.

Prime Minister Erdogan made a speech on the Day of the Environment and said the following:

“In our society, we do not give consent to the breaking of a single branch or plucking a single flower. We want women, children and the elderly to live in peace in this city. A city only made up of concrete and asphalt  would become a mechanical city. Our purpose is to construct cities that would inspire poets and painters.”
