When they declared, ‘Why! Joseph and his brother are dearer to our father than we are although we constitute a powerful group. Our father is clearly making a mistake. (Surah Yusuf, 8)
Normally, the Prophet Joseph (pbuh)’s brothers are believers. However, Allah reveals this incident in order to refer to hypocrites. There is a reference to hypocrites here. For instance, if we think about its meaning in terms of Hazrat Mahdi (pbuh) and the Prophet Jesus (pbuh), these men are jealous with both Hazrat Mahdi (pbuh) and the Prophet Jesus (pbuh). They are disturbed with the sovereignty and power of both of them. That is why they say that they have already come and gone or that they will come 1000 years or 570 years later. A Muslim would like to see them right away. Would someone say “I’d like to see you 1000 years later” to his loved ones? He would beg and pray to Allah to see them. Hodjas Osman Unlu and Cubbeli say this out of ignorance. But the others are very insincere.
“Although we constitute a powerful group”: Polytheists and hypocrites are in close communication with one another. They form a majority and therefore they form their aggressiveness by trusting in that power. Hypocrites will form a group against Hazrat Mahdi (pbuh) as well. They will engage in intensive struggle in order to prevent Hazrat Mahdi’s (pbuh) activities and Islamic Union.
“Our father is clearly making a mistake”: They will blame Hazrat Mahdi (pbuh) for making mistakes. They will also blame those who follow Hazrat Mahdi (pbuh) for making mistakes.
Kill Joseph or expel him to some land so that your father will look to you alone and then you can be people who do right.’ (Surah Yusuf, 9)
They plan a direct murder. But what is the second way? For instance, you imprison someone along with people who are inclined to commit murder, then they can kill that person during of a fight as they are used to it. Or you take someone and put him among mental patients in any country, and since those people are used to killing, they can get angry or jealous over anything and kill. These are indirect methods of killing. I did not do it but he did. How could we know? For instance, if you leave a small child on a highway and he is crawling. He would not know and would cross the street. The car does not see him and runs over him. What is he going to say if you ask? He would say that he left the kid there to get some air. But his real aim is to kill the child. But he would say that he did not do that. This is a method used to avoid his conscience and guilt. We understand that this will be done to Hazrat Mahdi (pbuh) as well.
“Then you can be people who do right”: Hypocrites will also claim to be Muslims. They will claim being a good Muslim, a perfect Muslim. They are inclined to murder and immoral, yet they claim of being a perfect Muslim.
That night they came back to their father in tears, (Surah Yusuf, 16)
One of the most obvious characteristics of hypocrites is that they shed false tears. Tear is a toy for them. They say that they are scared and they cry. They say that they are ashamed and they cry. They cry to look honest, to lie and to get money and to look god-fearing. Hypocrites and polytheists use crying as a game. But I acquit those who are sincere of course.
... saying, ‘Father, we went out to run a race and left Joseph together with our things and then a wolf appeared and ate him up but you are never going to believe us now, not even though we really tell the truth.’ (Surah Yusuf, 17)
So polytheists and hypocrites are not in a very calm position. We think here that atheist freemasons or atheist zionists will do something against Hazrat Mahdi (pbuh) but we see that hypocrites are going to do something on large scale and that they are intending to kill or prevent Hazrat Mahdi (pbuh).
They then produced his shirt with false blood on it. He said, ‘It is merely that your lower selves have suggested something to you which you did; but beauty lies in showing steadfastness. It is Allah alone Who is my Help in face of the event that you describe.’ (Surah Yusuf, 18)
Then in the time of Hazrat Mahdi (pbuh) false evidences will be produced. False legal evidences will be able to be produced.
He said “No. It is merely that your lower selves have suggested something to you which you did”: We understand that Muslims will bring criticisms to these in a nice manner. There is a criticism in a gentle manner.
Beauty lies in showing steadfastness: Both Hazrat Mahdi (pbuh) and his followers will be patient. Bediuzzaman describes steadiness, courage and patience as the characteristics of Hazrat Mahdi (pbuh).
It is Allah alone Who is my Help in face of the event that you describe: So there will be slanders against Hazrat Mahdi (pbuh). This is called a sham. This is required for slander.
