But when the bringer of the good news came, he cast it on his face and his sight returned.
Sadness leads to a collapse in people. The body’s resistance is broken. The body’s resistance to germs, bacteria and disease is reduced or completely destroyed, and the body becomes open to infection and disease. This is a miracle of the Qur’an. So good news restores people to health. If someone has an infection in the eye, for instances, it goes away immediately. If he has a disease, it gets better. Joy invigorates people. Faith invigorates people, it eases their hearts. The Qur’an is pointing to that truth.
He [Jacob] said, ‘Did I not say to you before, I know things from Allah you do not know?’(Surah Yusuf, 96) In other words, Jacob is saying “I knew that Joseph (pbuh) would return.” Meaning Israel. They [his children] said, ‘Our father, may we be forgiven for all the many wrongs that we have done. We were indeed greatly mistaken men.’ (Surah Yusuf, 97) They admit their error only after a long time. They beg for forgiveness. They beg Allah for forgiveness. A servant also has the right to ask human beings for forgiveness, but they say they wish to be forgiven by Allah. So it is permissible for a Muslim to pray for forgiveness for his sins. We can see this from the Qur’an. Look, Israel, or Jacob (pbuh) says, He said, ‘I will ask my Lord to pardon you.’“I cannot ask now,” he is saying because he still does not trust them. He is Ever-Forgiving, Most Merciful. (Surah Yusuf, 98)” Allah says, I am forgiving, but I am also a protector.
Then when they entered into Yusuf’s presence, he drew his parents close to him...The Prophet Joseph (pbuh) is full of love. Look, he immediately embraces them. ...and said, ‘Enter Egypt safe and sound, if Allah wills.’ (Surah Yusuf, 99) What is the first thing he offers? Safety. There is always the problem of safety. People are always tense and troubled over it. Some people do not trust their mothers, or their fathers. Some cannot trust their brothers and some cannot trust people on the streets. They do not trust a building, out of fear it will collapse. They do not trust their food. They buy food and then worry about whether it contains additives or has been genetically modified. They may worry about insects, scorpions or spiders. That is the way of the world. I mean, there are many dangers in this world, but none in paradise. So what is the first thing the Prophet Joseph (pbuh) offers his mother and father? By Allah’s leave, he first puts their hearts at ease. By whose will? Allah’s. “If Allah wills,” he says. Insha’Allah.
Enter Egypt safe and sound. This is the language of the Mahdi (pbuh). He first says “if Allah wills.” Enter Egypt in safety. What is the first thing provided? Safety. What prepares the foundations in love? Safety. People cannot love if they cannot trust. One cannot be at ease with a person one cannot trust. Someone may be married for 10 years and still not trust his wife. He puts the deeds to the house in his own name. He puts the car in his own name. He does not trust her. And the woman does not trust him. “Put them in my name,” she says. She does not trust him and hatred blooms when they get divorced. I am referring to some cases here.
He raised his parents up onto the throne. They are on the throne while the Prophet Joseph (pbuh) is standing. What is this? Humility, respect and love. His parents are sitting on the throne. He gives them what is rightfully his. He loves them so much that The others fell prostrate in front of him. There is a mutual exchange of joyful love. He said, ‘My father, truly this is now the interpretation of the dream I had.’ And Hazrat Mahdi (pbuh) will also say, once we have Islamic Unity, “I foretold this from the hadiths of Rasulullah (saas). I described them and interpreted them. And I told the truth.” Hazrat Mahdi (pbuh) will say; “This is the meaning of what I told you. This is what I described. This is what I meant by sovereignty. You have seen worldwide sovereignty. You have seen all the signs. Allah has made what I said come true.” Surah Yusuf is indicating that truth. Look, ...truly this is now the interpretation of the dream I had. What will the Mahdi (saas) say? “This is the interpretation of the hadiths.”
My Lord has made it all come true; what will the Mahdi (pbuh) say? My Lord has made these hadiths come true. You have seen them come true, he will say, insha’Allah. He was kind to me, he will say. What does the prophet Joseph (pbuh) say? He says Almighty Allah was kind to me. By letting me out of prison... The means that Hazrat Mahdi (pbuh) always faces the threat of prison. He faces the danger of going into prison. Surah Yusuf is referring to that. Prison will hang like a sword over Hazrat Mahdi’s (pbuh) head. That will be his test. So Hazrat Mahdi’s (pbuh) struggle will be a very dangerous one. The Qur’an indicates that, insha’Allah. ...and brought you from the desert when Shaytan had caused dissent between me and my brothers. Shaytan will cause dissent between the Mahdi (pbuh) and his Muslim brothers. He will cause him to fall out with many Muslims. He will misrepresent the Mahdi (pbuh) to them. He will portray him as mistaken and perverse. He will create doubt and suspicion in them. He will say, “He is on the wrong path, he is perverse, he makes mistakes, he is dangerous. Avoid him.” He will portray Hazrat Mahdi (pbuh) as a dangerous character, may Allah forbid. He brought you from the desert ...Muslims will come to the Mahdi (pbuh) from all over. Muslims will come to Hazrat Mahdi (pbuh) from Saudi Arabia, from Mecca and Medina, from the deserts of Sudan and from deserts everywhere.
Then when they entered into Yusuf’s presence, he drew his brother close to him and said, ‘I am your brother. Do not be distressed concerning all the things they used to do.’ (Surah Yusuf, 69)
Later, of course the bigots will be forgiven. They bigots will repent of all their filthy deeds. That embracing also refers to Jesus the Messiah. His brother. Hazrat Mahdi (pbuh) and his brother. It refers to the meeting between Hazrat Mahdi (pbuh) and Jesus the Messiah (pbuh). Then when they entered into Yusuf’s presence, he drew his brother close to him and said, ‘I am your brother.’ What will Hazrat Mahdi (pbuh) say? “You are Jesus the Messiah.” And what will Jesus the Messiah say? “You are the promised Mahdi.” He will say that through revelation. “Allah revealed this to me,” he will say. “You are the promised Mahdi (pbuh).” But it is not compulsory to believe that because he has not come as a prophet with a book. He has not brought a new book so it is not a matter of obligation to believe in him. Then when they entered into Yusuf’s presence, in other words, when the Mahdi (pbuh) met. The Qur’an is pointing to that, insha’Allah. he drew his brother close to him, he embraces Jesus the Messiah (pbuh). That is the reference, insha’Allah.and said, ‘I am your brother.’ So there will be this mutual revelation of identity. “You are Jesus the Messiah.” “And you are the imam Mahdi (pbuh).” Do not be distressed concerning all the things they used to do. So there will be loveless, ruthless, cruel people around in the time of the Mahdi (pbuh). They will say and do bad things and set traps. But Hazrat Mahdi (pbuh) will still treat them with affection, insha’Allah. ‘A goblet.’ Look, a goblet appears in Surah Yusuf. A goblet or a water jug. What does that suggest? The House of Aquarius. What is sent down to the Prophet Joseph (pbuh) when he is trapped in the well? A bucket. Another reference to Aquarius. What age are we in now? The Age of Aquarius. Could the holy one be an Aquarian? We will see, insha’Allah. We will see when he appears.
…A herald called out: What do the hadiths say? “A herald will call from the sky.” They turned to them and said, ‘What are you missing?’ They said, ‘We’re missing the goblet of the king. What has gone missing? The Mahdi (pbuh). As his name says, the Gaib. There is a sign here that the Mahdi (pbuh) will go missing, insha’Allah. It means that an Aquarian will go missing. There is also an indication of that. The man who brings it,…That means that people will find the Mahdi (pbuh). They will find Jesus the Messiah. There are signs here of that. Also, what has gone missing? The Ark of the Covenant. The holy ark of the Prophet Moses (pbuh). The Prophet Joseph (pbuh) is someone with a good knowledge of the law. He uses all legal means very well. …will get a camel’s load. Regarding that I stand as guarantor. (Surah Yusuf, 72)
You know full well your father had you make a covenant with Allah concerning this, and how before you failed him with Yusuf.? His brothers will commit a crime against the Prophet Joseph (pbuh). And the Qur’an also indicates that despots will oppress Hazrat Mahdi (pbuh) in the same way.
Ask questions of the town in which we were and of the caravan in which we came for we are surely telling you the truth. (Surah Yusuf, 82)
He turned himself away from them and said, ‘What anguish is my sorrow for Yusuf!’ And then his eyes turned white from hidden grief.(Surah Yusuf, 84) Allah shows how severe sorrow can lead to illness; sorrow leads to eye infections. The eyes lose their health, their ability to see, and if that sorrow increases the body’s ability to protect itself is destroyed. May Allah forbid, one can end up in a terrible state. The Qur’an is indicating that. Almighty Allah is showing how grief can cause sickness. They said, ‘By Allah, you will not ever cease to mention Yusuf. They keep telling me, “You keep on talking about the Mahdi (pbuh), you keep on talking about Jesus the Messiah.” I will continue to do so, because I long for them. In the same way as Jacob (pbuh). I am waiting excitedly to embrace them. ...till you waste away or are among the people of the grave! (Surah Yusuf, 85) Because they are always full of love, all the prophets have a tendency to such sadness. Prophets are saddened by the slightest thing, but they use their free will to escape that. It was in the Prophet Solomon (pbuh), and the Prophet Moses (pbuh) and in our own Prophet (saas). Our Prophet (saas) had a very deep soul, and was full of love, someone who was quick to be saddened. But he also submitted and bore it with fortitude, insha’Allah. ...because I know things from Allah you do not know.(Surah Yusuf, 86) Insha’Allah, that is also a reference to Jesus the Messiah (pbuh). My sons! Seek news of Yusuf and his brother. What do I say? “Bring us news of the Mahdi (pbuh) and Jesus the Messiah (pbuh), my brothers.” We are seeking the Mahdi (pbuh) and Jesus the Messiah (pbuh) everywhere. My sons! Seek news of Yusuf and his brother [through careful investigation]. Who is it who says to seek the Mahdi (pbuh)? Rasulullah (saas), insha’Allah. Do not despair of solace from Allah. What do people say? “No, the Mahdi (pbuh) will not be coming now.” What does Allah say? Do not despair of solace from Allah. One must not lose hope of Allah’s mercy when seeking him. “The time has passed,” they say. But they said that about Joseph (pbuh), too. “The time has passed, let us not look for him any more.” Look, what does Almighty Allah say? Do not despair of solace from Allah. No one despairs of solace from Allah except for people who are disbelievers. (Surah Yusuf, 87) Only unbelievers and the kafirun abandon hope of Allah’s mercy. It is unbecoming of a Muslim to abandon hope of the coming of the Mahdi (pbuh). So when they came into his [Joseph’s] presence, in other words, when they come into the presence of the Mahdi (pbuh), that is what the verse is indicating, ...they said, ‘Your Eminence!’ So he is the administrator of the state. He is a power at the top of the state, insha’Allah. Hardship has hit us and our families. So there will be a terrible economic crisis in the time of the Mahdi (pbuh), the Qur’an indicates that. We bring scant merchandise,... So people will have very little money. Money will disappear from the markets, the Qur’an is indicating that. ...but fill the measure for us generously. Hand out generously. What will the Mahdi (pbuh) do? He will hand out plenty of goods. The Mahdi (pbuh) will make generous gifts, so much so that people will even want to hand them back. But they will not be taken back. Surah Yusuf is all about the system of the Mahdi from start to finish. Allah always rewards a generous giver. (Surah Yusuf, 88) The Mahdi (pbuh) will be the most philanthropic of people. He [Joseph] said, ‘Are you aware of what you did to Yusuf and his brother in ignorance?’
(Surah Yusuf, 89) In other words, we will say; “ “You behaved in the way you did to Jesus the Messiah (pbuh) and the Mahdi (pbuh) out of ignorance.” Insha’Allah, that is the indication in the Qur’an. They said, ‘Are you Yusuf?’ There was a book of poetry that said “Are you really Joseph?” The Mahdi (pbuh) is also described in that book. And we will say to Jesus the Messiah, “Are you Jesus the Messiah?” And to the Mahdi (pbuh) we will say, “Are you the Mahdi (pbuh)?” Insha’Allah. They said, ‘Are you Yusuf?’ There is a link between Joseph (pbuh) and the Mahdi (pbuh). There is a reference to that, too. We can tell that from the Qur’an. I mean, we can see there is a link between Joseph (pbuh) by name and the Mahdi (pbuh), insha’Allah, Allah knows the truth. They said, ‘Are you Yusuf?’That means that some people will have doubts. He said, ‘I am indeed Yusuf,’ What will Jesus the Messiah (pbuh) say? “I am Jesus the Messiah, the son of Mary .” What will the Mahdi (pbuh) say? “I resemble him,” he will say, “But I do not claim to be him.” ...and this here is my brother. And this is Jesus the Messiah, insha’Allah. The Qur’an is indicating that. Allah has acted graciously to us. A person cannot be the Mahdi (pbuh) unless Allah chooses him. One cannot become the Mahdi (pbuh) through hard work, nor by study or through hard work. And not through the support of any group or community or anything else. Allah has to choose him. So what does he say? Allah has acted graciously to us.And one cannot become Jesus the Messiah through hard work. Nor can one become the Mahdi (pbuh) through hard work. As for those who fear Allah and are steadfast, one has to be careful over what is lawful and unlawful and exhibit fortitude. For how long? For decades, for 40 or 50 years if necessary, for a lifetime. Allah does not allow to go to waste the wage of any people who do good. (Surah Yusuf, 90)
In this world and the hereafter. Sovereignty in this world and paradise in the hereafter, insha’Allah. They said, ‘By Allah, Allah has favored you above us. Clearly we were in the wrong.’ They are amazed at how the Prophet Joseph (pbuh) is a mahdi. “Allah has favored you above us…” They are amaze. “By Allah,” they say. Clearly we were in the wrong. (Surah Yusuf, 91) The bigots will say that. This is what will happen in the end, insha’Allah. He said, ‘No blame at all will fall on you. So he will not seek revenge on anyone. Today you have forgiveness from Allah. “But I cannot know,” he says, whether Allah will inflict torment in the hereafter or not. He is the Most Merciful of the merciful. (Surah Yusuf, 92) “Perhaps he will have mercy on you,” he says. “But I cannot know.” Go with this shirt of mine and cast it on my father’s face. So Hazrat Mahdi (pbuh) will also express his love and send gifts in all directions. He will send gifts to people, to those whom he loves. Those gifts will heal the sick, insha’Allah. His interest and concern and love will appear is a strengthening, power, enthusiasm and excitement in the sick, as a manifestation of Allah’s title of ‘Hayy’, insha’Allah. ...and he will see again. Then come to me with all your families. (Surah Yusuf, 93) They will recover through my love. If they hear of that love for me, they will get better, he says. So the love of Hazrat Mahdi (pbuh) will cure people, insha’Allah. And when the caravan went on its way, their father said, ‘I can smell Yusuf’s scent! You probably think I have become senile.’ Since the bigots are disrespectful and have no love, they can think very bad things. I can smell Yusuf’s scent! (Surah Yusuf, 94) So Joseph, the Mahdi (pbuh) in other words, will have a very pleasant scent. He will have his own unique scent. That scent will be very well-known, insha’Allah. The Qur’an is specially indicating that. So that scent will come to them. It has spread all around. In other words, a miracle has taken place. Because a person sometimes catches the scent of the beloved, insha'Allah. They said, ‘By Allah! Your mind is still astray.’ (Surah Yusuf, 95)
And they say this in the name of Allah. But when the bringer of the good news came, he cast it on his face and sight returned. His health is restored. All that is needed is a connection to the Mahdi (pbuh). All that is needed is a connection to the Prophet Joseph (pbuh). Almighty Allah works a cure through that love. Allah is indicating the restorative power of love. He [Jacob, Israel] said, ‘Did I not say to you before, I know things from Allah you do not know?’ (Surah Yusuf, 96)
Since he is a prophet he has been furnished with special knowledge from Allah. They [his children] said, ‘Our father, may we be forgiven for all the many wrongs that we have done. So at least they know the error of their ways. We were indeed greatly mistaken men. (Surah Yusuf, 97) So the bigots will repent thousands of times over. The Qur’an is indicating that. In the time of the Mahdi (pbuh), when the Prophet Jesus (pbuh) comes. He said, ‘I will ask my Lord to pardon you. He is Ever-Forgiving, Most Merciful.’ (Surah Yusuf, 98) In other words, the Qur’an shows that you must not relax and trust the bigots right away. You have to be on your guard because one never knows what they will do. If they do a wrong thing once, they can do it again. But most people, for all your eagerness, are not faithful. (Surah Yusuf, 103) Most people will not believe in the time of the system of the dajjal. That is how it is now. Some 99.9% of people do not believe. You do not ask them for any wage for it. So the Mahdi (pbuh) will preach, not for any reward, but for Allah’s approval. It is only a reminder to all beings.
(Surah Yusuf, 104) It is advice and a reminder to all the world, to all people. How many Signs there are in the heavens and earth! Yet they pass them by, turning away from them.(Surah Yusuf, 105)
In the skies, people who take an interest in astronomy are stunned when they see the skies. They are amazed at Allah. There are fossil remains in the earth, aren’t there? There are paleontological findings. There are the traces of past civilizations. Most of them do not have faith in Allah without associating others with Him. (Surah Yusuf, 106) They are polytheistic by nature, in other words. They do not regard the Qur’an as sufficient.
Do they feel secure that the all-enveloping punishment of Allah will not come upon them, great wars, for instance, World War I or World War II or else economic crises, hunger, terror and anarchy. ...or that the Last Hour will not come upon them all of a sudden when they least expect it?
This is clearly a verse pointing to the End Times. Almighty Allah is speaking of the Day of Judgment. He says it will come suddenly and unexpectedly. Allah is therefore indicating that Muslims need to be prepared.
Say: ‘This is my way. I call to Allah with inner sight, I am a messenger and I call people to Islam, he says. I and all who follow me. Glory be to Allah! I am not one of the idolaters! “I do not ascribe equals to Allah, I believe in the sufficiency of the Qur’an. I believe in the sufficiency of Allah.” This refers to the Mahdi and his followers, as well, insha’Allah.
Verse 110
Then when the Messengers [ the mahdis] despaired.” Messengers and prophets. ...and thought themselves denied,... Years have gone by, but Islam has not come to reign. The Mahdi (pbuh) has not come, Jesus the Messiah (pbuh) has not returned, people have become extreme and there is no sign of the promised one. Our help came to them;” I bestowed sovereignty, says Allah. What does Allah say in the time of the Mahdi? He says the mahdi (pbuh) will appear when people have lost hope of his coming. What does the Torah say about Moschiah? It says he will come when people have lost hope of his coming. ...and those We willed were saved. Whomever He wishes. The Mahdi (pbuh), his followers, the world. Our violent force cannot be averted from people who are evildoers.
Almighty Allah says He has been revenged by inflicting war and terror.
There is instruction in their stories for people of intelligence. Surah Yusuf contains lessons and advice and signs for intelligent people concerning life and this world. This [Qu’an] is not a narration which has been invented,” Almighty Allah refers to the Qur’an itself.
