What He Said?What Happened?

Destan TV, 08 March 2009

Adnan Oktar: Look it says in 2006, 17 thousand 64 people were exposed to violence by family members. Why should a woman have such an obligation? Why should her nose and jaw be broken every day? Why should she let herself be beaten? [They say] He is your father, he has the right to beat. [They say] She is your mother, she has the right to beat. Is she a beast? This is a human being, this is not acceptable. Then SHE GOES AND MAKES FORMAL APPLICATION, AND TAKES REFUGE IN THE STATE. If she has a friend, a person she loves and trusts, she can go and stay with her, provided that she is protected…

This has to be changed. A child in such a condition is an individual. From the point of the State, people who are 18 years old and over are grown up people legally having their own responsibility. People who are under 18, SHOULD TAKE REFUGE IN STATE INSTITUTIONS. STATE SHOULD ALLOCATE SPECIAL PLACES FOR THESE CHILDREN. And the statement of a child should be considered. This child should not be asked to prove his/her statement.

AS A NATION, IF WE MAKE A DECISION WE WILL REACH A GOOD SOLUTION. THE PROCEDURE REGARDING THE LITTLE CHILDREN TAKING REFUGE IN THE STATE SHOULD BE SIMPLIFIED AND THEY NEED TO BE TAKEN UNDER GOOD CARE. AS FOR THE ELDER ONES, THE STATE SHOULD PLACE THEM WITH RELIABLE FAMILIES TO RECEIVE PROTECTION WHEN THEY WRITE A PETITION TO THE OFFICE OF THE ATTORNEY GENERAL.  OTHERWISE THIS SAVAGERY AND PERSECUTION WILL GO ON AND MAKE OUR NATION’S HEART BLEED. HOWEVER THE SOLUTION IS SO EASY.

Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan decided to step in once again when the previous measures taken on violence against women appeared to be insufficient. The new memorandum signed by Mr Erdogan includes concrete terms to define the precautions needed to be taken by each institution of the state.

The renewed memorandum, which was first produced in 2006, involves more concrete precautions. In scope of this study, the law draft that involves the precautions to prevent the violence against women and family members is also being reviewed.
