What He Said?What Happened?

Mr. Adnan Oktar has said that Muslim scholars and the Directorate of Religious Affairs must issue a fatwa about the death penalty sentence handed down  by Egyptian courts against 529 people, saying that it is haram, and that otherwise, this oppression would not end with protests.

Following this comment, the President of the Directorate of Religious Affairs, Mehmet Gormez and Yeni Safak journalist Hayrettin Karaman, made a call to Egyptian authorities. Recently, the International Union of Muslim Scholars made a statement, saying that the Egyptian death penalty verdicts lacked even the simplest legal criteria.

ADNAN OKTAR: Now some scholars there issue fatwas:They say that death penalty is a necessity and it is acceptable according to the Qur’an and the hadiths. The others say, “It abides by the laws.” So they will not listen to what we say. It is vital that they issue a fatwa saying that death penalty is forbidden by religion; a counter-fatwa. Most of the scholars in the Muslim world are sleeping; they are in a deep sleep. The Religious Affairs Directorate could also issue a fatwa. Otherwise they will hang all of them, let me tell you. They will not care about any protests.

ADNAN OKTAR: The world’s reaction is very important. Religious scholars could issue a fatwa. Some of them just sit there and act like they know all the answers about unrelated matters. This is a very important topic. Five or ten scholars can come together and issue a fatwa stating that it is haram and forbidden to shed Muslim blood. They cannot subvert such a fatwa. Insha’Allah. This is the key point.

(The AK Party Head Office Youth Section organized a nation-wide protest for the death penalty handed down by Egyptian courts against 528 people.)

ADNAN OKTAR: Well done to those men; Masha’Allah. This is how a Muslim must be like. They can persuade the scholars. They can ask ten or twenty scholars to issue a fatwa saying, “It is forbidden by religion to massacre Muslims like this.” If their hands get used to blood, then not just 500, but they can even martyr 500 thousand people. They are  crazy. First of all, they should release those young girls. Let’s focus on this mostly. They have put them in cages. This is outrageous and immoral. How could you treat them like animal? This is the trouble with bigotry. They cause Muslims such trouble and then they just sit aside.

The International Association of Muslim Scholars condemned the death penalty sentences recently handed down  by Egyptian courts to those who resisted the coup, and states that the verdicts were “political.” The union also made a written statement where it was noted that the so-called verdicts could not be accepted because they were “political.” The union made a call “not to stay silent and not to be an observer” and made an assessment of the situation saying, “We must support the free people of Egypt, leaving aside temporary and non-humanitarian interests.”
