The first lesson of the year is usually held at church for the students who start the primary school in Germany. But this year the children from various nations - mostly Turkish, German, Bosnian and Albanian – took their first lesson that was held in Leverkusen Turkic - Islamic Cultural Center. This first lesson included some basic information on Islam. During the seminar which was held in Germany for the first time, the imams (Muslim religious leaders in the mosques) gave instructions on various topics. Mustafa Yilmaz, Chairman of Religious Affairs Turkic Islamic Union of Leverkusen, expressed his happiness regarding the Muslims’ starting the school with such an activity after a period of 40 years and stated that this occasion will be repeated in different mosques in the future.
