The land of the mosque was assigned to Russia"s Council of Muftis by the courtesy of the Moscow’s Mayor Sergey Sobyanin. The new mosque has been in the process of construction for a while and the construction cost is expected approximately 120 Million US Dollars.
The mosque will host 12 thousand people after being completed to allow them perform prayer at the same time in its indoor and outdoor places in total. Turkish Presidency of Religious Affairs will commit the embellishing work inside the mosque.
The old mosque, which was inadequate to meet the need, had been built in 1904. Now the authorities also plan to restore and protect the historical area.
