
“The Church of England has prepared a prayer for the economic crisis which burst in the USA and spread over Europe. The prayer named "Prayer for current financial situation", written by Revd Peter Moger, the Archbishops" Council’s National Worship Development Officer, has been published on the Church of England website. More prayers for those who worry about their household budget and being in debt, hence seek for spiritual consolation are already available on the Church’s website.
PRAYER FOR ECONOMIC CRISIS
"Prayer for the current financial situation" reads: "Lord God, we live in disturbing days: across the world, prices rise, debts increase, banks collapse, jobs are taken away, and fragile security is under threat… Loving God, meet us in our fear and hear our prayer: be a tower of strength amidst the shifting sands, and a light in the darkness; help us receive your gift of peace, and fix our hearts where true joys are to be found, in Jesus Christ our Lord.Amen.”
The prayer has received the backing of the Archbishop of Canterbury, Dr Rowan Williams. He said: “At this time of international financial turbulence, it is important that the Church should be offering the opportunity for prayer and reflection.” Beside being a spiritual leader, Dr. Rowan Williams, the leader of the Church of England which has been headed by Queen Elisabeth II, is also known with his interest in political and social issues of his country. The Archbishop of Canterbury, Dr Rowan Williams is also considered the leader of Anglicans all ovre the world. According to the surveys conducted in recent years two third of English adult population prays regularly”
