People’s only helper on any issue, material or spiritual, which they encounter all through their lives, is our almighty Lord. It is Allah, who is the only power to bestow help to people. This fact is conveyed in the Qur’an with a verse as: “If Allah touches you with harm, none can remove it but Him. If He touches you with good, He has power over all things. “ (Surat al- Al-An‘am, 17) When a person suffers from a trouble or distress, he experiences a feeling of felicity by seeking refuge in Allah and by praying to Him only, who is the mere owner of ultimate power and possessor of all universe and creatures. What’s important here is person’s continuing to acknowledge his dependency to Allah, the blessings and mercy of Allah upon him, after Allah eases his troubles and difficulties. The important thing is his acting in a submissive, thankful manner toward Allah and being in need of praying to Allah even if He bestows abundance, richness, welfare, peace and comfort upon him. Current economic crisis has been an important opportunity to consider one’s weakness before Allah and appreciate once again how needy he is in front of Him. It is quite a good development that Church of England has issued a prayer, encouraging people to pray for being relieved from their economic troubles. Acknowledging that one can be freed from any trouble only by the aid of Allah, they have taken refuge in praying to Allah.
