In this documentary about members of the cat family, the following was said about cheetahs: "In evolution, some of its characteristics became a very fragile. One of the problems is the cheetah"s face. It has become a serious problem that makes cheetahs unable to kill their prey once they have caught it. Besides this there is its hanging tail. This is a genetic defect seen in many cheetahs."

One of the problems is the cheetah"s face. It has become a serious problem that makes cheetahs unable to kill their prey once they have caught it. Besides this there is its hanging tail. This is a genetic defect seen in many cheetahs."

This condition in cheetahs is certainly not due to evolution. For a characteristic of a living thing to demonstrate a proof for evolution, it is necessary to show that it was acquired, that is, that previously non-existent information was randomly added to the DNA. Such an example has still not been observed and the cheetah provides no exception. What is explained in the documentary does not come from any acquired characteristic, but from already existing information in the cheetah"s DNA. Animal Planet does not explain why the structure of the cheetah"s face is fragile or why the shape of its tail can be called a genetic defect. Besides, it should not be forgotten that genetic defects show that a creature cannot turn into a more complex animal, that is, it shows the invalidity of the theory of evolution. Genetic defects, that is, errors that occur in genes, when they affect the functioning of a gene, are always damaging. Indeed, if there is a genetic defect, as has been claimed in the case of the cheetah, it does not prove evolution but shows the invalidity of this theory.
