One of the leaders of the PKK, Murat Karayilan, who praises the Zarathustra ideology and reviles Islam and also the Naqshbandi sect that is prominent among Kurdish people, faces a strong reaction. Mehmet Sadik Elci, the sheikh of the Naqshbandi sect said that the core of the Naqshbandi sect is to live Islamic morals and also help other people live according to Islamic morals and explained that Kurdish language and literature has reached its heights today by means of Naqshbandi madrassahs (Muslim theological schools). Sheikh Elci added, “Their main target is Islam, which is indeed the symbol of unity and brotherhood within the region. When reviling the Naqshbandi sect they indeed want to insult Islam.” |
