THE SIGNS OF THE LAST DAY IN THE QUR'AN

THE HOUR IS NEAR

Most people know at least something about the Last Day. Almost everyone has heard one thing or another about the horror of the Hour. Nevertheless, most tend to have the same reaction to it as they do to other matters of vital importance, that is, they do not want to speak or even think about it. They try very hard not trying to think about the terror they will experience on the Last Day. They cannot bear the reminders of the Last Day found in a news report of a terrible accident or a film report about some disaster.

They avoid thinking about the fact that that day will certainly come. They do not want to listen to others who talk about that great day, or to read author's works about it.

These are some of the ways that people have developed in order to escape the dread of thinking about the Last Day.

Many do not seriously believe that the Hour is coming. We are presented with an example of this in a verse of Surat al-Kahf, about the wealthy owner of a rich vineyard:
I do not think the Hour will ever come. But if I should be sent back to my Lord, I will definitely get something better in return. (Surat al-Kahf, 36)

The above verse reveals the true mentality of someone who professes to believe in Allah but avoids thinking about the reality of the Last Day and puts forward claims contradicting some verses of the Qur'an. Another verse relates the doubt and uncertainty that engulfs disbelievers in regards to the time of the end.

When you were told, "Allah's promise is true and so is the Hour, of which there is no doubt," you said, "We have no idea what the Hour is. We have only been conjecturing. We are by no means certain." (Surat al-Jathiya, 32)

Some people entirely deny that the Last Day is coming. Those who have this opinion are mentioned in the Qur'an as follows:

But instead, they deny the Hour; and We have prepared a Searing Blaze for those who deny the Hour. (Surat al-Furqan 11)

The source that can guide us on the way and show us the truth is the Qur'an. When we look at what it says, we learn an obvious fact. Those who deceive themselves about the Last Day commit a grave error, because Allah reveals in the Qur'an that there can be no doubt that the Last Day is near.

And the Hour is coming without any doubt ... (Surat al-Hajj, 7)  We did not create the heavens and earth and everything between them, except with truth. The Hour is certainly coming. (Surat al-Hijr: 85) The Hour is coming-there is no doubt about it …(Surat al-Mu'min, 59)

There may be some who think that the message of the Qur'an concerning the Last Day was revealed more that 1400 years ago and that this is a long time compared to the length of a human life. But here, it is a question of the end of the world, the sun and the stars, in short, of the universe. When we consider that the universe is billions of years old, fourteen centuries is a very short period of time.

A great Islamic scholar of recent times, Bediuzzaman Said Nursi, responded to a similar question in this way:

The Qur'an says, "The Hour has drawn nigh." (Surat al-Qamar, 1) That is, Doomsday is near. It still not having come after a thousand or this many years does not injure its closeness. Because, Doomsday is the appointed hour of the world, and in relation to the life of the world one or two thousand years are like one or two minutes in relation to a year. The Hour of Doomsday is not only the appointed hour of mankind that it should be related to it and seen as distant..¹

The Building Block of Life: the "Carbon" Atom

Carbon is the most vital element for living beings, because all living organisms are constructed from compounds of carbon. Numerous pages would not be enough to describe the properties of the carbon atom, which is extremely important for our existence. Nor has the science of chemistry yet been able to discover all of its properties. Here we will mention only a few of the very important properties of carbon.

Structures as diverse as the cell membrane, the horns of an elk, the trunk of a redwood, the lens of the eye, and the venom of a spider are composed of carbon compounds. Carbon, combined with hydrogen, oxygen, and nitrogen in many different quantities and geometric arrangements, results in a vast assortment of materials with vastly different properties. So, what is the reason for carbon's ability to form approximately 1.7 million compounds?

Carbon Chains

One of the most significant properties of carbon is its ability to form chains very easily by lining carbon atoms up one after another. The shortest carbon chain is made up of two carbon atoms. Despite the unavailability of an exact figure on the number of carbons that make up the longest carbon chain, we can talk about a chain with seventy links. If we consider that the atom that can form the longest chain after the carbon atom is the silicon atom forming six links, the exceptional position of the carbon atom will be better understood.¹

The reason for carbon's ability to form chains with so many links is because its chains are not exclusively linear. Chains may be branched, as they may also form polygons.

At this point, the form of the chain plays a very important role. In two carbon compounds, for example, if the carbon atoms are the same in number yet combined in different forms of chains, two different substances are formed. The above mentioned characteristics of the carbon atom produce molecules that are critical for life.

Some carbon compounds' molecules consist of just a few atoms; others contain thousands or even millions. Also, no other element is as versatile as carbon in forming molecules with such durability and stability. To quote David Burnie in his book Life:

Carbon is a very unusual element. Without the presence of carbon and its unusual properties, it is unlikely that there would be life on Earth.²

Concerning the importance of carbon for living beings, the British chemist Nevil Sidgwick writes in Chemical Elements and Their Compounds:

Carbon is unique among the elements in the number and variety of the compounds which it can form. Over a quarter of a million have already been isolated and described, but this gives a very imperfect idea of its powers, since it is the basis of all forms of living matter. ³

The class of compounds formed exclusively from carbon and hydrogen are called "hydrocarbons". This is a huge family of compounds that include natural gas, liquid petroleum, kerosene, and lubricating oils. The hydrocarbons ethylene and propylene form the basis of the petrochemical industry. Hydrocarbons like benzene, toluene, and turpentine are familiar to anyone who's worked with paints. The naphthalene that protects our clothes from moths is another hydrocarbon. Hydrocarbons combined with chlorine or fluorine form anesthetics, the chemicals used in fire extinguishers and the Freons used in refrigeration.

As the chemist Sidgwick stated above, the human mind is insufficient to fully understand the potential of this atom that has only six protons, six neutrons and six electrons. It is impossible for even a single property of this atom, which is vital for life, to form by chance. The carbon atom, like everything else, has been created by God perfectly adapted for the bodies of living beings, which God encompasses down to their very atoms:

What is in the heavens and in the Earth belongs to God. God encompasses all things. (Surat an-Nisa’, 126)

The Truth That Fossils Reveal about Living Things: Creation

Fossils unearthed to date possess two very important features, both of which conflict with the claims of the theory of evolution:

1. Stasis: Species exhibit no changes throughout the course of their existence on Earth. Whatever the structure they display when they first appear in the fossil record, they have that same structure when they finally disappear from it. Morphological (shape) change is generally minor and follows no specific direction.

2. Sudden Appearance: No species ever emerges gradually through differentiation from its alledged forebears; it appears suddenly and "fully formed."

The significance of these two points is that living things were created, with no process of evolution and no intermediate stages to go through. They did not subsequently acquire the characteristics they possess, but had them since the moment of their creation.

Darwin himself knew that the fossil record refutes his theory of evolution, but Darwinists have been reluctant to ever admit it. In the chapter titled "Difficulties on Theory" in his book The Origin of Species, Darwin admitted that the fossil record could not be explained in terms of the theory of evolution:

The oldest known fossil specimens of the snail pictured belong to the Jurassic Period (206 to 144 million years ago). The first samples of the class of living beings to which this species belongs have existed since the Cambrian Period (543 to 490 million years ago). Snails have remained the same for hundreds of millions of years, revealing the invalidity of evolution.

Why, if species have descended from other species by insensibly fine gradations, do we not everywhere see innumerable transitional forms? Why is not all nature in confusion instead of the species being, as we see them, well defined? ... But, as by this theory innumerable transitional forms must have existed, why do we not find them embedded in countless numbers in the crust of the earth?… Why then is not every geological formation and every stratum full of such intermediate links? Geology assuredly does not reveal any such finely graduated organic chain; and this, perhaps, is the most obvious and serious objection which can be urged against my theory.(Charles Darwin, The Origin of Species, Oxford University Press, New York, 1998, pp. 140, 141, 227)

The argument that Darwin proposed in the face of the lack of intermediate form fossils—to the effect that "there are no intermediate forms now, but they may be found through subsequent research"—today no longer applies. Present-day data show that the fossil record is extraordinarily rich. Based on hundreds of millions of fossil specimens obtained from different regions of the world, some 250,000 separate species have been described—many of which bear an extraordinary resemblance to the approximately 1.5 billion species alive today. Given the absence of any intermediate form despite such a wealthy fossil record, it is impossible any such intermediate forms will emerge from new excavations.

The fossil record offers not a single example of an "intermediate form" that evolutionists can use as evidence, but does provide millions of specimens that demonstrate the invalidity of evolution. The most important of these are "living fossils," of which living specimens are in existence today. They can be seen from the fossil record to have lived in differing geological periods, and are proof of creation, since no difference exists between the living things of hundreds of millions of years ago and present-day specimens. Darwinists are helpless in the face of this situation.

All the living creatures in the fossil record appear intact and in their perfect forms. For instance, before crocodiles and squirrels, there exist no fossils belonging to any strange creature partly resembling a crocodile, and in other parts to a squirrel or other living creatures. Squirrels have always remained squirrels, and crocodiles have always remained crocodiles. All these facts reveal that the claim of the theory of evolution, that "Living beings have gradually evolved over millions of years of time" is simply a product of imagination.

There are many species of plants whose structures have remained unchanged since the Triassic Period (248 to 206 million years ago). One of these is a ginkgo tree.

The evolutionist Niles Eldredge admits that they have no explanation to offer on the subject of living fossils, which represent just one of the countless secrets evolution is unable to unravel:

... there seems to have been almost no change in any part we can compare between the living organism and its fossilized progenitors of the remote geological past. Living fossils embody the theme of evolutionary stability to an extreme degree.... We have not completely solved the riddle of living to an extreme degree... The "secret" that Niles Eldredge attempts to unravel is actually a perfectly clear fact. Living fossils prove that species did not undergo evolution, but were created. However, Darwinists seek to ignore this fact out of ideological concerns and persist in keeping alive the dogmas of 150 years ago.

But the facts can now be determined much more clearly than in Darwin's day. The number of people who understand and choose to go along with the facts is rising, while those who believe in fairy tales and never seek to question them are ever fewer in number. Facts can no longer be concealed and swept aside, as was the case in Darwin's time. Genetics, microbiology, paleontology, geology and all other branches of science constantly reveal a truth that Darwin and the supporters of Darwinism never wanted and perhaps never expected—the fact of creation.

The irrational and unscientific claims that Darwinists make, the frauds they perpetrate to deceive the public, and the propaganda they employ to mislead people are only signs of their despair. Subsequent generations will be amazed at how people once believed in the Darwinist myth. Because all scientific findings show the manifest fact that evolution never happened, and that God created the universe and all living things.

[God is] the Lord of the heavens and the Earth and everything in between them, if you are people with certainty. There is no deity but Him—He gives life and causes to die—your Lord and the Lord of your forefathers, the previous peoples. Yet they play around in doubt. (Surat ad-Dukhan, 7-9)

Among His signs is the creation of the heavens and Earth and all the creatures He has spread about in them. And He has the power to gather them together whenever He wills. (Surat ash-Shura, 29)

A Flood of Creationist Activities - 23.05.2008 - USA/Science

In its 23 May, 2008, issue the well-known scientific journal Science once again made reference to Harun Yahya’s Atlas of Creation. The report in question said:

Oktar, who uses the pen name Harun Yahya, became well-known outside Turkey when his Foundation for Scientific Research (BAV) widely distributed its Atlas of Creation, a stunning, 768-page tome.

In addition, the report went on to say that the pressure on Harun Yahya “seems unlikely to stem the flood of creationist books and DVDs he is publishing… BAV says ‘the work will go on’…”

THOSE WHO TURN TO ISLAM

As stated above, the sympathy that leaders feel for Islam deeply affects the desire of people to approach Islam. One indication of this is the number of Europeans who, over the last few years, have converted to Islam. Research shows that these new converts are not uneducated; rather, most of them have a university education and a career.

The April 30, 2001, edition of The Daily Telegraph published information about the turn to Islam, especially in England. While interviewing converts, the following picture emerged: Most of them have status in society, have strong family connections, and chose Islam after considerable research and study. For example, Joe Ahmed-Dobson, son of the former Minister of Health, was 16 years old when a friend gave him a copy of the Qur'an as a gift. In it, he says, he found the answers to all his questions. He officially accepted Islam at the age of 23, and was supported by his family in this decision. Apparently, his father gives him Islamic books as Christmas presents every year. Among recent converts in England are people like the son of John Birt, the former general director of BBC, and the daughter of Lord Justice Scott, a prominent judge. Over the past 20 years, an estimated 20,000 people in England have converted and, as in many other countries, the movement toward Islam has accelerated. According to the Manchester Mosque, after the events of 9/11, sixteen individuals accepted Islam there alone. One of the interesting things revealed by such research on converts is that far more women are turning to Islam. In America, one in four converts is a woman; in England, the figure is one in two.¹

Islam also is growing rapidly in Denmark. After the official Protestant religion comes Islam, and the number of Catholics is slightly less than the number of Muslims. Of the 5.5 million Danes, 3% are Muslims.² This growth in the number of Muslims is the result of high immigration. This increase was discussed in the Danish press in a report entitled "The Future of Denmark: Every Second Person is a Muslim." Research done by the well-known sociologist Eyvind Vesselbo, who lives in Denmark, shows that the number of Muslims in Denmark will increase considerably in the near future.³

Scientific facts reveal that living creatures have not evolved, but Darwinists insist on ignoring this. The 146- to 65-million-year-old turtle fossil pictured, which is identical with the turtles of our day, once again stresses what Darwinists are reluctant to see: Living beings have not changed for millions of years. In other words, they have not evolved.

AL-HAMEED,(THE PRAISEWORTHY)

He sends down abundant rain, after they have lost all hope, and unfolds His mercy. He is the Protector, the Praiseworthy . (Surat ash-Shura, 28)

All plants and animals live and glorify Allah wherever He has placed them. A fish in the ocean or a cactus in the desert lead their lives with great submission, according to what Allah has determined for them, and their maintenance of His order indicates this glorification. Everything in the heavens and Earth, oceans consisting of tons of water, mountains rising thousands of meters, clouds drifting in the sky, and thunderstorms also glorify Allah and indicate His infinite knowledge and power. Yet those who do not believe fail to grasp this glorification, as stated below:

The seven heavens and Earth and everyone in them glorify Him. There is nothing that does not glorify Him with praise, but you do not understand their glorification. He is Lenient, Ever-Forgiving. (Surat al-Isra', 44)

On the other hand, believers grasp our Lord's greatness, glorify Him, and thank Him for the blessings He grants, for they know that He expects them to be thankful servants. Allah commands thus:

What is in the heavens and in the earth belongs to Allah. We have instructed those given the Book before you, and you yourselves to have fear [and awareness] of Allah. But if you do not believe, what is in the heavens and in the earth belongs to Allah. Allah is Rich Beyond Need, Praiseworthy. (Surat an-Nisa', 131)

Musa said: “If you were to be ungrateful, you and everyone on Earth, Allah is Rich Beyond Need, Praiseworthy.” (Surah Ibrahim, 8)

Those who have been given knowledge see that what has been sent down to you from your Lord is the truth and that it guides to the Path of the Almighty, the Praiseworthy. (Surah Saba, 6)

AN INTERVIEW WITH MR. ADNAN OKTAR BY AL HURRA TV (Istanbul - April 8, 2008)

In the interview given by Mr. Adnan Oktar to Al Hurra TV on April 8, 2008, Mr. Oktar comments on such important issues as Turkey’s foreign policy, EU membership, Middle East policy, Cyprus, and minority issues.

When Mr.Adnan Oktar was asked about his views on the demands of the Alawite community, he replied reminding the necessity of unity: “There is nothing odd about Alawism, and it is not a system to be opposed for any reason. It is an Islamic sect, and an Alawite must be treated with respect. But not as a special favour. As a right. The freedoms, freedom of worship and freedom of lifestyle of Alawite citizens must be respected and supported. No Alawite can have any problems when that happens. That also applies to our Kurdish citizens. Kurds are generally very devout, very considerate people. There very modest and respectful. This is generally the case with all people in Anatolia. Their hospitality and pleasantness are familiar to all. Anyone can go and see for themselves. Our Kurdish compatriots are different to people in Europe. But I do not see an amalgamation of Kurds, Turks, Laz and the like, just one Turkish nation. There was no such thing when I was a child. We may have heard by chance that someone was of Kurdish origins, but it was really of no concern to us. That system still applies today. Whether people are Kurds, or Laz or Circassians or whatever they may happen to be, if they refer to themselves as Turks and talk Turkish, then they are Turks and first-class citizens. Unity brings with it abundance and strength. Division means ill fortune. Division is bad. Division means weakness and suffering. Our Kurdish citizens must not desire such a thing. If one goes back far in time one ends up with the Sumerians or the Hittites. Does that mean there should be a Hittite Union or a Sumerian Union? At the end of the day we all go back to the Prophet Adem, which means that we are all brothers. ”

Ambers Deny Darwin

Tens of thousands of fossils embedded in amber show that termites have always been termites. Ants have always been ants, frogs have always been frogs, snakes have always been snakes, butterflies have always been butterflies. In short, living things have always existed in the forms they first displayed when they first came into the world, with the same features. There is no difference between living things preserved in amber millions of years ago and their present day counterparts.

The Design in Nature

Darwin said: "If it could be demonstrated that any complex organ existed, which could not possibly have been formed by numerous, successive, slight modifications, my theory would absolutely break down." When you read this book, you will see that Darwin's theory has absolutely broken down, just as he feared it would.

Creatures in nature have extremely complex body systems. A thorough examination of the feathers of a bird, the sonar system of a bat or the wing structure of a fly reveals amazingly complex designs. These designs clearly indicate that all living things are flawlessly created by Allah.

The theory of evolution advanced by Charles Darwin in the 19th century denies creation and suggests that design in nature came into existence “spontaneously and accidentally” through natural processes. According to the theory of evolution, the basic mechanism of this phenomenon is “gradual development.” Scientific developments in the 20th century, however, have shown that designs in creatures cannot be attributed to “gradual development.” Living bodies consist of organs made up of intricate components, the absence of even one of which would render that organ useless. Even these “irreducibly complex” organs alone clearly prove that life cannot be accounted for by natural causes but was flawlessly created by Allah.

WHAT DARWINISTS NEVER REALIZE

1-Darwinists never realize that oxygen is a caustic element and should normally be expected to burn our bodies, and that in order to prevent this the form taken by oxygen in the atmosphere, O2, has been made neutral, in other words it does not easily enter into chemical reactions.

2-Darwinists never realize that the energy emitted by a single explosion in the Sun is very high, that the force of a single such explosion is equivalent to that of a 100-billion-ton bomb of the kind dropped on Hiroshima, and that by means of the atmosphere this caustic effect reaches the Earth in the most ideal form.

3-Darwinists never realize that if a seed sprouting below the ground is prevented from reaching the surface it will move around any obstacle before it by giving off long shoots, or else will set up pressure from where it is growing and will eventually reach the daylight.

4-Darwinists never realize that even though the soil generally has a decaying, destructive nature, the seed in the soil and the roots just half a millimeter thick never come to any harm in the ground. On the contrary, they use the soil to constantly grow and develop, and Darwinists never consider how it is that delicate roots are able to protect themselves.

5-There are seeds that remain dormant for dozens or even hundreds of years if conditions are unsuitable, and that sprout only later. Darwinists never realize how plants with no options such as changing location available to them know of the existence of such a mechanism that allows them to survive under even the harshest conditions.

6-Darwinists never realize how grapes appear as sweet, water-filled globes from the dry, stick-like branches of the vine, that there is information in the seeds’ genes that makes grape pith different to the shell of a hazelnut and that gives these two fruits their colors, tastes and smells, the vitamins inside them, and that makes one dry and the other juicy, and that hazelnuts always appear as hazelnuts, and grapes as grapes.

7-Darwinists never realize how it is that the information that gives roses their color, determines the folds in their leaves, gives the flowers their velvety texture and that provides the same delightful fragrance wherever one may go in the world, is located inside the plant’s genes, and that this applies to all the plant species in the world.

8-Darwinists never realize how it is that seeds, the majority of which resemble tiny bits of wood, eventually turn into giant trees 4-5 meters tall and weighing hundreds of kilograms.

9-Darwinists never realize that it is impossible for a protein to emerge spontaneously in muddy water, and for others to emerge in its wake, and for these then to combine together to bring a cell into being and thus come alive.

10-Darwinists never realize that in order for protein synthesis to take place the information extracted from the DNA has to be accurately copied, and for that to happen the two entwined strands of the DNA molecule have to be unwound, nor how the molecule involved in this process knows what to do.
