Mr. Necdet Özel: A Buffer Zone Must Be Built Urgently

What He Said?What Happened?

In his conversation programs Mr. Adnan Oktar has said that a safety zone must be built for the well-being of the Syrian refugees who escaped from ISIL attacks and took shelter in Turkey without any delay.

After Mr. Oktar’s call for help, people from different circles, especially our President Tayyip Erdogan and our Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoglu, have made statements that draw attention to the importance of a buffer zone. Recently Mr. Necdet Ozel has made a proposal to build such a safety zone urgently.

At the Cabinet Meeting, the subject of Turkey’s announcement of a unilateral buffer zone in case of coalition forces’ refusal of the demand for a buffer zone was discussed. The Chief of the General Staff, Necdet Ozel, proposed that the lands which the Syrian regime cannot control be taken under the context of a buffer zone, that these areas be declared as no-fly zones and a decision be made regarding this before winter comes.

ADNAN OKTAR: I have proposed this buffer zone months ago, years ago. I said, “A buffer zone must be established.” They did not listen. I also explained the model, the style and the method. It was very easy but they did not do it: A buffer zone must be established immediately. Not thirty kilometers but at least sixty kilometers. A separate ten kilometer buffer zone and a fifty kilometer zone for the people alone. It will be just enough for them. Fifty kilometers is a very small area.

(President Erdoğan made a proposal to the United Nations that ‘a no-fly and a buffer zone’ be established, but the UN was not open to the proposal saying that a no-fly zone will not work.)

ADNAN OKTAR: This, for example, is a very irrational statement. They did it before. And it worked just fine at the time of Saddam. They said, “Within this longitude and this latitude there will not be any planes flying.” They established a safety zone for the people of Iraq. Now you will do the same thing for Syrians. Iraqis will also use it and everyone will. You say it won’t work because it doesn’t suit your interests, and because a massacre of Muslims  is good for you. Houses are damaged and there is work for you. You collect from oil earnings and the bombs and gun stockpiles are used. For example, now new planes are used and they are tested. Many new weapons were tested in the last two days. And they have missiles and they were tested as well.

ADNAN OKTAR: I have said it years ago that they should establish a buffer zone. What could be more natural than this? They did it before in Iraq and it was successful. You will say, “My friend, within this longitude and this latitude it is a no-fly zone. You cannot enter with cars or tanks also. It is forbidden to enter here. This is the border.” You will say, “Innocent people will stay here. You will not touch these people.” Syria has to listen to this. She is already in loads of trouble.

ADNAN OKTAR: There needs to be a zone where people who escape from wars and fighting can live in safety. There is nothing complicated. Why do they pretend not to understand it? ISIL is also trouble. The PKK is trouble. Syria is  trouble. There is  never-ending trouble there. There is a countless number of gangs.

A zone where the innocent people there can live in peace. They don’t need to wait for this. They are being unscrupulous. This is wrong. If it were their own people, they would set it up immediately. What a pity!

It was warned that 400,000  refugees from forty regions of Syria where ISIL attacks have increased could come to Turkey and there would be many PYD members among them.

ADNAN OKTAR: No if it is a PKK member. We can provide protection at the border in a buffer zone but they cannot enter Turkey. They should establish a safety zone on the border. For example, a 300 meter- long safety zone next to the border line. They can stay there. We should not let them inside. But they can give food and tents and other vital needs, because a human being is a human being after all. But if we let PKK members in it would be very strange. It is unacceptable. But we can provide protection at the border. May Allah forbid, but if there is an air strike, the Turkish air force has the strength to retaliate. In addition, our defense systems are sufficient. They can give their coordinates beforehand. When we say, “In this area there are this many people escaping from war. These people took shelter with us. We established a safety corridor here. If you bomb this place or cross this border we will intervene” they cannot come. That’s it.
