The third duty of THAT PERSON is to SERVE the RELIGION OF ISLAM by basing the CALIPHATE OF ISLAM on the ISLAMIC UNION by GETTING INTO A COOPERATION AND SOLIDARITY with DEVOUT CHRISTIANS AND THE CHRISTIAN SCHOLARS. (Sikka al-Tasdiq al-Ghayb, 9) |
Bediuzzaman states that Hazrat Mahdi (as) will serve Islam by establishing the Islamic Union and allying with the Christian leaders against “materialism and irreligion” which is the common front of Islam and Christianity. As Allah states in one verse in the Qur’an, “You will find the people most affectionate to those who have faith are those who say, ‘We are Christians.’ That is because some of them are priests and monks and because they are not arrogant.” (Surat al-Maida, 82) genuine Muslims and genuine Christians are natural allies. They should conduct a common ideological struggle against irreligion and cooperate. In the End Times the best example of this solidarity will be experienced with Hazrat Mahdi (as) and Jesus (as). With these words Bediuzzaman draws attention to this important portent of Hazrat Mahdi (as).
Hazrat Mahdi’s (as) establishing the Islamic union and allying with Christian leaders and thus his serving Islam were experienced neither in the times of Bediuzzaman nor before him. By reminding this important fact which had not happened during his time, Bediuzzaman once again cites that he is not the Mahdi and gives the good news that Hazrat Mahdi (as) is someone who will come at a later date.
