Binali Yıldırım: The Appropriate Steps Must Be Taken Even If the Involve My Own Father

After Mr. Adnan Oktar asked the government to issue a statement about the corruption allegations, various government officials, starting with the prime minister himself, have stated that there can be no covering up of corruption.

Mr. Binali Yıldırım also said that the necessary steps would be taken.

ADNAN OKTAR: There is this idea of not liking Tayyip Hodja. What Tayyip Hodja needs to do is to emphasize over and over again that there can be no mercy, in legal terms, for those who commit crimes. To emphasize that all measures will be taken. I stress how this is the matter they are most worried about in society; ''Will it be covered up? Are they trying to cover it up.” The prime minister needs to say; “If there is a cover up, I will expose it. I will remove those doing the covering-up from their posts of necessary. I want everything to be out in the open and transparent. Our party is the AK Party, and one meaning of the word AK is 'white'. I will make sure it stays white, and will expose those who try to make it black.''

ADNAN OKTAR: Nobody does or will support corruption. I mean, is Tayyip Hodja saying, ''Yes, I support corruption”? He cracks down on it very strongly. Putting an end to corruption has been his priority since coming to power. People who commit crimes may indeed emerge, now or in the future, from his own party, or from among his relatives or people he knows; but it would be wrong to blame the government for that.

ADNAN OKTAR: The state must come down hard on anyone who commits a crime or does wrong. It is therefore wrong to give an impression of weakness and helplessness. I see that in some people in the press; that is no good. Even if it escaped the attention of the relevant bodies, they have finally caught on. So there will be no problem. The state will not fail because of two or three people.

There may be people around him who have made a mistake. If there is a serious error, then there are laws and rules. The law takes its course and the AKP will continue on its way. It has a mission: The AKP does not consist of just three or four people. It is a mindset that represents millions. There is therefore no call for unnecessary fuss and opposition to the law.

ADNAN OKTAR: Nothing will come from any of these things. It is not going to leave the field to the communists. This is empty speculation and fuss. If there is a legal irregularity, if three or four people have committed a crime, the state does what is required. Nobody covers it up, or can cover it up, moreover. That is impossible. The files and everything are all there. There is no problem.

The AKP candidate for mayor of Izmir, Binali Yıldırım, said in the context of the corruption allegations. “The necessary steps will be taken even if they involve my father, let alone my brother in law. We have no right to condemn anyone out of hand. There will be a follow-up, questions will be asked, statements will be taken and what needs to be done, will be done.”
