“boundless Creationism” And “atlas Of Creation.”

On 8 and 9 February, 2007, the personal, evolution-based web site Le blog des bactéries et de l’évolution carried two reports titled “Boundless Creationism” and “Atlas of Creation.” These contained the following statements:

If we think of a country or a culture that stands for the creationist movement, USA springs immediately to mind… According to a survey carried out in 33 developed countries, USA has the lowest number of adults who believe in the theory of evolution, but if we include Turkey it goes straight to the head of the list. This gilt-edged document shows that the heart of Creationism has gone not to America but to far further away.

A few days ago, biology teachers in French institutions were sent an immaculate book called “Atlas of Creation (Volume I)” written with the aim of showing that the different life forms in existence today cannot be accounted for in terms of the theory of evolution. If anyone has a spare copy to give me that would be wonderful for my private collection. This huge warship, which employs broad quotations from the Qur’an, was written by Harun Yahya, whose real name is Adnan Oktar. He has no qualms about saying: “The theory of evolution, an idea left over from 19th century fashion, has been completely demolished in the face of present-day scientific reality.” Using a great many striking examples, the author even suggests that all forms of violence and conflict stem from Darwinism (the embodiment of materialism in his view)…
