The Turkish Presidency of Religious Affairs has announced that 634 people have converted to Islam over the past year.
Figures released by the Turkish institution show that the converts come from different religions, mainly Christianity, Press TV"s Ankara correspondent reported.
Women make up 467 of these people. It is reported that more women embraces Islam because they study pretty much on Islam.
About 25 percent of those who have converted to Islam in Turkey have been Germans. Americans, French and British nationals are also among the converts.
Most of the Muslim converts are young people between the age of 21-30 (total 257 people). 175 Muslim converts aged between 31-40 is also reported.
Islam is the dominant religion in Turkey with over 95 percent of the population as Muslims. Other religions include various Christian denominations such as Roman Catholics and Protestants.
