Those who say Hazrat Mahdi (as) has 2 duties are lying

THIS IS HOW THE RISALE-I NUR REVEALS THAT HAZRAT MAHDI (AS) WILL HAVE 3 DUTIES:

 

Kastamonu Addendum, p. 139:

These THREE QUALITIES BEING PRESENT AT ONE TIME IN ONE PERSON OR COMMUNITY, AND THEIR BEING PERFECT AND NOT IMPAIRING ONE ANOTHER SEEMS VERY REMOTE, OR EVEN IMPOSSIBLE. In the End Times, THEY CAN ONLY COME TOGETHER IN THE GREAT MAHDI AND THE COLLECTIVE PERSONALITY OF HIS COMMUNITY, WHO REPRESENT THE LUMINOUS COMMUNITY OF THE AHL AL-BAYT [the line of the Prophet (saas)].

Emirdağ Addendum, p. 265:

As I have many times mentioned in my letters, THE COLLECTIVE PERSONALITY OF THE HOLY COMMUNITY REPRESENTED BY HAZRAT MAHDI (AS) RASUL [descended from the line of our Prophet (saas)], HAS THREE DUTIES. If Doomsday does not happen at once, and if people do not stray entirely from the path, we may expect from the Divine mercy (from the mercy of Allah), that his community and the community of sayyids [those descended from the Prophet (saas)] will perform that duty. AND HE WILL HAVE THREE GREAT DUTIES.

Emirdağ Addendum, p. 259:

FIRST: Under the effect of SCIENCE AND PHILOSOPHY, and the contagious plague known as ATHEISM AND MATERIALISM, and its spread among people, he will first of all save the faith in such a way as to silence PHILISOPHY AND MATERIALISM.

SECOND: WITH HIS TITLE AS THE CALIPH OF MUHAMMAD [with his title of the caliph of our Prophet (saas)], TO RESTORE THE ESSENCE OF ISLAMIC MORAL VALUES, TO MAKE THE UNITY OF THE ISLAMIC WORLD HIS FOUNDATION, and to rescue mankind from physical and spiritual dangers and from the Divine wrath (the wrath of Allah). The foundation and servants of this duty WILL BE AN ARMY OF MILLIONS OF INDIVIDUALS.

THIRD: ... THAT PERSON WILL STRIVE TO PERFORM HIS GREAT DUTY WITH THE HELP OF ALL BELIEVERS AND THE ASSISTANCE OF THE ISLAMIC UNION, AND OF SCHOLARS AND TEACHERS AND OF MILLIONS OF LOYAL PEOPLE FROM THE AHL AL-BAYT [the line of the Prophet (saas)] PRESENT POWERFULLY AND IN LARGE NUMBERS EVERY CENTURY.

...A GUIDE, A KIND OF MAHDI AND REFORMER COMES IN EVERY CENTURY, SINCE EACH OF THEM DISCHARGED ONLY ONE OF THESE THREE DUTIES  IN ONE ANGLE, NONE HAVE RECEIVED THE TITLE OF THE GREAT MAHDI OF THE END TIMES.

The Seal of Affirmation of Hidden Things, p. 9:

Some verses and hadith speak in allegorical terms OF THE GREATEST RENNOVATOR, WHO WILL APPEAR IN THE END TIMES. BUT THE MOST IMPORTANT OF THE THREE DUTIES OF THAT INDIVIDUAL WHO WILL COME AND HIS COMMUNITY, and that which appears on the surface to be the smallest, is to salvage faith and illuminate the truths leading to faith like a Sun, and since it is the collective personality of the Risale-i Nur collection and its students who will discharge that duty, THEY HAVE ATTEMPTED TO INVENT THE REPORTS AND SIGNS REGARDING THAT PERSONAGE WHO WILL APPEAR IN THE FUTURE, AND EVEN SOMETIMES THE INTERPRETATION OF THE COLLECTIVE PERSONALITY OF THE  RISALE-I NUR COLLECTION, AND HAVE FAILED TO CONSIDER THIS IMPORTANT DUTY of restoring the essence of the moral values of Islam and applying the caliphate THAT RULES WITHIN A VERY BROAD SPHERE.

The most important and greatest and most valuable of THE THREE DUTIES OF THE PERSON AWAITED BY THE COMMUNITY AND WHO WILL COME IN THE END TIMES is to spread the true faith through writing and to save believers from deviation.

... It can be seen from this fact that; THIS HOLY INDIVIDUAL WHO WILL COME IN THE FUTURE WILL IMPLEMENT THE RISALE-I NUR IN WRITTEN FORM AS A PROGRAM. 

THE SECOND DUTY OF THIS INDIVIDUAL WILL BE TO APPLY AND IMPLEMENT THE SHARIAH [the essence of Qur’anic moral values and the Sunnah of our Prophet (saas)].

Although the first duty will not be with physical force, but perhaps through a powerful and genuine faith and observance of the approval of Allah alone and through sincere devotion, A VERY GREAT SPIRITUAL FORCE AND DOMINION IS NECESSARY IN ORDER FOR THIS SECOND DUTY TO BE DISCHARGED.

THE THIRD DUTY OF THAT INDIVIDUAL IS TO BUILD THE CALIPHATE OF ISLAM ON ISLAMIC UNITY, TO ENTER INTO COLLABORATION AND SOLIDARITY WITH DEVOUT CHRISTIANS AND CHRISTIAN SCHOLARS AND THUS SERVE ISLAM IN THIS WAY.  THIS DUTY CAN BE DISCHARGED WITH A GREAT DOMINION AND POWER AND MILLIONS OF LOYAL FOLLOWERS.

The first duty is three or four times more valuable than those other two duties, BUT SINCE THOSE SECOND AND THIRD DUTIES ARE IN A VERY BRIGHT AND VERY BROAD SPHERE AND ARE OF A MOST IMPRESSIVE KIND, THEY APPEAR TO BE MORE IMPORTANT IN THE EYES OF THE PUBLIC AND ORDINARY PEOPLE.
