To whom it may concern

Dear Sir,

As director of Ta Ha Publishers Ltd, a well established publishing house whose publications have been distributed widely throughout the world for the last 20 years, I have been surprised and shocked to hear the way Mr. Adnan Oktar has been treated by the Turkish judicial system, for the following reasons:

Many books have been submitted to Ta Ha Publishers Ltd for possible publication during the last 20 years and as a result of our strick selection criteria, we have always been careful to publish well balanced, moderate and above all educational works. As a result of this policy, Ta Ha Publishers Ltd enjoys a good reputation for quality and excellence.

When Mr. Adnan Oktar’s books were first submitted to me for publication in English, I had no hesitation in passing them as being worthy of publication, since they had instant appeal, were well argued and contained no offensive material. I sensed that they would be enjoyed by both young and old alike andthat they would help improve people’s knowledge, morals and law abiding social behaviour.

I am glad to say that my original impressions and decision to publish Mr. Oktar’s works in English under his pen name Harun Yahya have been proved to be correct and fully confirmed. Several of his publications in English are now well known throughout the world, especially in Europe and America. I have received many letters, emails and telephone calls of congratulations and thanks for publishing such beneficial works which are clearly argued on a rational and scientific basis. Some schools have already incorporated these books into their teaching curriculum. No-one has criticised these books or alleged that they are radical or subversive or misleading anyway. Many people from all over the world have thanked me for publishing Mr. Oktar’s works.

Since Mr. Oktar’s works have already attracted praise in Europe and America, I am sure that this has reflected positively not only on the author, but also on his country, Turkey. They have helped to confirm the status of Turkey in modern Europe and the important contribution it has to make not only politically as a future member of the European Union, but also in the cultural, literary, educational and scientific fields. As an experienced and responsible publisher. I therefore strongly believe that Mr. Oktar is a valuable asset of modern Turkey.

One of the conditions of membership of the European Union is the honouring and implementation of basic human rights by its member states, including freedom of speech and fair judicial process. I would therefore request you to honour these rights in relation to Mr. Oktar. Since his works are helping to promote a positive image of Turkey in Europe and abroad, to mistreat him will be not only an abuse of Mr. Oktar’s personnel human rights, but also it will damage the positive image of modern Turkey which he is playing a valuable part in promoting.

I would also like to add that I have been impressed by Mr. Oktar’s associates whom I have met, who are all members of the Science Research Foundation. Without exception, I have found them to be highly-educated, well mannered, moderate and with the best interests of turkey and it’s people in mind. This is a confirmation of who Mr. Oktar is, since a man is always known by the company he keeps.

The eyes of the world are on you and on behalf of Mr. Adnan Oktar and on behalf of Turkey, I humbly request you to release him and to protect him from prosecution. I hope I have been of service in drawing these matters to your attention.

Yours Sincerely,
Director, Ta Ha Publishers Ltd.
