The Pope XVI. Benedict, as he starts his first visit to a Muslim country, Jordan, after he became the Pope; expressed his deep respect towards Islam, and he stated that he aims to make the relationship stronger with Muslims.
Pope was greeted with a reception at the airport by many Muslim and Christian leaders and the King Abdullah of Jordan, who promotes peace in the Middle East and advances the dialog between Muslims and Christians. Pope said: "My visit to Jordan gives me a welcome opportunity to speak of my deep respect for the Muslim community “ In response to that King Abdullah said: " We welcome your commitment to dispel the misconceptions and divisions that have harmed relations between Christians and Muslims ".
