The danger of 'lightness' in the soul

They do not measure Allah with His true measure. Allah is All-Strong, Almighty. (Surat al-Hajj, 74)
 

People who have ‘lightness' in their souls should avoid being in the position of those who, as Allah reveals in the verse, ‘do not measure Allah with His true measure’. These people ignore the infinite signs of Creation that Allah shows them and do not think about the infinite punishment in Hell that Allah will give in the Hereafter. They live their lives with no purpose at all under the control of satan and engage in all sorts of simple and irrational activities that will keep them away from thinking deeply. They keep themselves in that ‘light and simple state of mind’ which helps them stay away from faith.  They do not have the noble soul that grows out of fear of Allah. They prefer a state of mind which is the most furthest to nobility and superior moral values in every aspect of their lives. They enjoy the most common, the simplest, the ugliest and the most repulsive things. They strongly avoid any depth or any deep morality it may bring about.

Having a noble soul is a characteristic of believers who have faith only by Allah’s leave. This characteristic is a blessing given to deep thinking Muslims by Allah.  One of the subjects that believers who devote their lives to Allah by not following their inner selves and who hope to earn Allah’s good pleasure in the Hereafter, constantly think about is Hell. They do not possess this lightness in their souls because they live with these facts in mind and they think about these deeply. Our Lord directs Muslims who live with fear of Allah every moment, who think about Allah’s good pleasure, the morality of the Qur’an, death, the Garden and Hell to a morality based on determined faith and strong mentality. Thereby believers continuously become more well-behaved, rational and noble-spirited. They turn away from bad and ugly things and look for instruments that can make them closer to Allah, because of their longing for the Garden. They tastefully and patiently train their inner selves without getting frustrated with looking for the best morality. As a result, believers may insha’Allah hope for the Garden promised by Our Lord with the verse, “Such people will be repaid for their steadfastness with the Highest Paradise, where they will meet with welcome and with ‘Peace’. They will remain in it timelessly, forever. What an excellent lodging and abode!” (Surat al-Furqan, 75-76)
