Rwandans Turning to Islam after the Genocide
The genocide in Rwanda was one of the worst of the last decade. Some 800,000 people were slaughtered in the most barbaric ways in the first 100 days. Muslims saved many Rwandans during the course of that genocide. Rodrique Ngowi, an Associated Press correspondent, wrote, “During the genocide, Muslims were among the few Rwandans to protect their neighbours and strangers.”
The behaviour on the part of Muslims has caused thousands of Rwandans to turn to Islam, which is now the fastest growing faith in the country.
