Those journalists who are aware of the rise of religion in the word are trying to understand its reasons by making researches on the subject. Recently, a renowned CNN journalist Cristiane Amanpour made a 3 part documentary named “Religion File” with which he witnesses the rapid rise of religion in our times. Amanpour divided the program into 3 parts which are Judaism, Christianity and Islam and confirmed that there is a rise in three religions. One of the most important reasons that cause people to turn their faces to religion is regarded as dissatisfaction in people’s spiritual lives. People don’t want to live as lonely persons, distant from such concepts as friendship, love and sacrifice which all come from religious ethics. They personally experience that this morale cannot be lived without religion so they turn to religion. People have witnessed that all ideologies other that truth of religion have been consumed. Only true religion promises people a hope and a good reason to live. Reha Muhtar also attracts attention to the fact that people are spiritually dissatisfied and states that they find solution in faith as follows:
“Cristiane Amanpour proves that concept of religion is incredibly on the rise all over the world...
Not only in Islamic
countries..
But in the United States of America for example...
The interviews he made in University campuses with students who adopt conservative Christian way of life, and statements given by professors, deans and university presidents show why concept of ‘religion’ is on the rise all over the world...
Religious values are on the rise...
Either in Christian world, or Islamic world, or Jewish world…
All existing values are subject to terrible erosion...
People are lonely...
People are not reached with love anymore...
Those people who do not receive love also don’t show love toward others...
In Amanpour’s interviews, people’s frustration about that can be seen in every aspect....
... In pilot university in America, all students, professors are in agreement to talk about distorted, lost values and materialistic human relations....
They hold on to religious values, faith and way of life...
Religion cures, like a medicine, isolated, frustrated, ruined lives...
It provides emotional and spiritual support to human...
Most importantly, it promises a hope and still a beautiful world against “degenerated human relations”...
... Individuals who lack love, care and support are new figures of the world.... hence “rise of religion” is inevitable and understandable....
In the Qur’an, seeing this truth, peoples’ embracing Allah’s religion in crowds is stated as follows:
And you have seen people entering Allah’s religion in droves, then glorify your Lord’s praise and ask His forgiveness. He is the Ever-Returning. (Surat an-Nasr, 2-3)
