MTV"s former famous presenter Kristiane Backer tells how she became a Muslim

Germany was shaken by the news of MTV’s well-known presenter Kristiane Backer’s converting to Islam in 1995.

In an interview with Al-Jazeera TV Channel’s “No Limits” programme, Kristiane Backer expressed her feelings of becoming a Muslim in 1995 saying; “After becoming a Muslim, my programme on MTV Channel was terminated and I was fired from the Channel while facing rather aggressive criticism on German Media but I have never felt regret for converting to Islam. My faith in Allah helped me to overcome that tough time and loss of money and fame was not a big deal indeed.”

Backer also explained that her experience at MTV had never fulfilled her spiritual needs and when she was introduced to Islam, a new era started in her life, by saying; “I started to look for love. When I was introduced to Islam, I realized what I really need is the love of Allah. When I achieved what I was looking for, I converted to Islam and became a European Muslim performing the acts of worship.”
 
Kristiane Backer also added that clinging to the pillars of Islam and introducing true Islam to people will be a means to remove some of the Westerns’ ignorant approach and opposing thoughts to Islam.
