Hazrat Mahdi (as) will accept no claims regarding his being the Mahdi

1674
(THEY WILL FREQUENTLY APPROACH HAZRAT MAHDI (AS) AND SUGGEST HE IS THE MAHDI, SAYING, ‘THE SIGNS OF HAZRAT MAHDI (AS) ARE UPON YOU,’ BUT HE WILL REJECT THAT OFTEN REPEATED CLAIM)

“When they say, ‘You are the Mahdi’ he will deny it...”

(Al-Qawl Al-Mukhtasar fi Alamat al-Mahdi al-Muntazar, Portents of the Awaited Mahdi, p. 40)

“They will say to him, ‘this is your name and this is your father’s name, all the signs are upon you,’ but he will not admit it...”

(Al-Qawl Al-Mukhtasar fi alamat Al-Mahdi Al-Muntazar, Portents of the Awaited Mahdi, p. 40)

“... They will say to Hazrat Mahdi (as), ‘if you cannot protect us against the Dajjal and the oppression of the unbelievers, then may all our sins and our blood that is spilled be upon your head.’ After those words Hazrat Mahdi (as) will accept the spiritual leadership (in order not to assume any spiritual responsibility).”

(Al-Qawl Al-Mukhtasar Fi alamat Al-Mahdi Al-Muntazar, Portents of the Anticipated Mahdi, p. 40)

We are told in the hadith of our Prophet (saas) that people will recognize Hazrat Mahdi (as) from the signs that appear, and will say “You are the Mahdi” to him on the basis of them. But Hazrat Mahdi (as) will deny it. It also appears from the hadith that this will be repeated time and again. People will many times insist to Hazrat Mahdi (as) that “the signs of Hazrat Mahdi (as) are upon you” and “you are Hazrat Mahdi (as)” but Hazrat Mahdi (as) will deny it each and every time. Eventually, in order to make him assume the spiritual leadership of Muslims, people will say “if you do not protect us may our sins and our blood that is spilled be upon your head.” Only then will Hazrat Mahdi (as) agree to become Muslims’ leader in order to avoid such a spiritual responsibility.

[HAZRAT MAHDI (AS)] WILL ONLY CONSENT TO LEAD THROUGH COERCION.

(Al-Qawl Al-Mukhtasar Fi alamat Al-Mahdi Al-Muntazar, p. 48)

People will eventually come to Hazrat Mahdi (as) and … TAKE THE OATH OF ALLEGIANCE ON HIM AGAINST HIS WILL.

(Al-Burhan fi Alamat al-Mahdi, p. 31)

THEIR OWNER [HAZRAT MAHDI (AS)] WILL BE RELUCTANT AND EVENTUALLY as many people as were at Badr will take the oath of allegiance on him, ALBEIT AGAINST HIS WILL.

(Al-Burhan fi Alamat al-Mahdi, p. 34)
