De Standaard, Belgium’s highest circulation Flemish-language daily, carried a report headed “Creationism” in its 7 August, 2007, edition. The report stated that Atlas of Creation had been intensively debated in the Belgian Parliament and that one member, Annick De Ridder, had posted a question about the teaching of Atlas of Creation in Flemish schools. In addition, the report carried the views of Taede Smedes, who specializes in the philosophy of science, to the effect that “policy needs to broaden itself in terms of the various aspects of creationism.”
