"...when they said to one of their Prophets, "Give us a king..." (Surah al-Baqara, 246)
"...Give us a protector from You, give us a helper from You!" (Surah an-Nisa', 75)
These verses of the Qur'an are the prayers of Muslims asking for a spiritual leader for themselves from God, asking for His very much loved Saint; that is to say, asking for a protector spreading love and bringing a spirit of friendship and understanding towards them, removing the spirit of conflict and instilling the spirit of love in them. With the verses of the Qur'an, God explicitly inform us that waiting for a Mahdi, waiting for a spiritual leader, is a blessing, a beauty, an act of worship for Muslims, and how Muslims should be praying in this respect.
Throughout history, God created each nation with its leaders. No nation mentioned in the Qur'an is without a leader or led by an incorporeal personality. In the times of the prophet Noah (pbuh), the prophet Abraham (pbuh), the prophet Moses (pbuh), the prophet Joseph (pbuh), the prophet Jesus (pbuh) and the prophet Muhammad (pbuh), the blessed messengers of God led the people of Islam, as the leaders of the believers. That is to say, in the time of every messenger, every Prophet, these Messengers and their communities, had spiritual identities but those Messengers headed their communities personally and acted as their leaders. Muslims always had a leader in the time of Hazrat Saul (pbuh), Hazrat Dhul-Qarnayn (pbuh) as well and in the End Times, Hazrat Mahdi (pbuh) will be the leader of Muslims.
It is not possible for the Islamic world to unite without a spiritual leader.
It is obvious that those people who want the Islamic world to unite without a leader actually do not really want the Islamic Union. Moreover, such a mentality is against the morality of the Qur'an, the Sunnah, reason and logic. How and in whose leadership Muslims will unite is unknown according to this approach: On which standards this unity will be based is also unknown. That is because if the morality of the Qur'an and the Sunnah is taken as a basis, it is obvious that Islamic world must have a leader.
In addition to this, these people find it natural that even the smallest of groups have a leader. They find it natural that Catholic Christians have the Pope, the Orthodox have the Patriarch, the Jews have a leader, and even the Freemasons have a Master, yet they find it unnatural for 1.5 billion Muslims to have a spiritual leader.
That is why those who say, "Wouldn't it be great if Muslims unite? The world of Islam should be united," as mere lip service yet fan the flames of separation and schism with the system they present, those who do not mention the name of Hazrat Mahdi (pbuh) and try to cover up his coming, should not forget that "a body cannot exist without a head."
Our Prophet (saas) announced the good news of Hazrat Mahdi (pbuh) in his hadiths
In a hadith, Our Prophet (saas) says, "Hear the good news of Mahdi (pbuh)".
"HEAR THE GOOD NEWS OF HAZRAT MAHDI. He is of Quraysh and of my family. (al-Kitab Al-Burhan fi Alamat al-Mahdi Akhir az-Zaman, p.13)
For this reason, Muslims should avoid being on the wrong track of covering up the coming of Hazrat Mahdi's (pbuh) and should instead seek him as Our Prophet (saas) informed us in the hadith; "Those of you who get to see his appearance, should come to him even if they have to crawl on snow. For he is the Mahdi." (Ibn Mace, Fitan, Chapter 34, Hadith 4082; Ibn Abi Shayba, vol. VII, p. 527; al-Kitab Al-Burhan fi Alamat al-Mahdi Akhir az-Zaman, p. 14).
Our Prophet (saas) informed us in his hadiths that waiting for Hazrat Mahdi's occurrence is the most distinguished act of worship
The Emir of the Believers Hazrat Ali (Karam Allah Wajhu) has narrated from the Messenger of God (saas) saying: "The Messenger of God (saas) decreed: "Mahdi's occurrence is the most distinguished kind of worship"."
In other words, our Prophet (saas) informs us that waiting for a leader that will enable this unity of love to lead Muslims and wishing for the Islamic Unity and the unity and solidarity of Muslims is the most distinguished act of worship.
Our Prophet (saas) informed us about the portents of the appearance of Hazrat Mahdi and his physical attributes in great detail; he told us that we should look out for these signs and abide by Hazrat Mahdi (pbuh) when these signs occur. Moreover, in the verses of the Qur'an, God has commanded us that we should wait for a leader and pray for the coming of this blessed leader who will end wars, oppression, bloodshed and injustice and that we should wish for his coming with love and enthusiasm and that his coming will be a beauty and will bring relief to the Islamic world and the whole world.
The abjad values calculated from the Story of Saul in Surat Al-Baqarah refer to the dates related with the system of the Mahdi and Hazrat Mahdi's appreance
Their Prophet said to them, ´God has appointed Saul to be your king.´ They said, ´How can he have kingship over us when we have much more right to kingship than he does? He has not even much wealth!´ He said, ´God has chosen him over you and increased him greatly in knowledge and physical strength. God gives kingship to anyone He wills. Allah is All-Encompassing, All-Knowing.´(Surat Al-Baqarah, Verse: 247)

Our Prophet (saas) said, "An individual from my progeny will come in the End Times and clear the world of oppression and injustice, and unite Muslims and save them from imprisonment." This is a revelation from God to our Prophet (saas) and a solution shown for Muslims living in the End Times. If Muslims ignore this solution and the coming of Hazrat Mahdi that is heralded by God and instead attempt to act on their own logic, this might have severe consequences in the Sight of God.
In the Qur'an, God deemed it a religious obligation for Muslims to be united. Muslims have always had a leader throughout history and Hazrat Mahdi (pbuh) will be the spiritual leader of Muslims in the End Times. Consequently, every verse that tells Muslims to unite refers to the system of the Mahdi. In the Qur'an, God heralded that the morality of Islam will prevail in the world and in the hadiths, it is stated that the morality of Islam will rule over the world by means of Hazrat Mahdi (pbuh) in this century. Therefore, all the verses that describe the prevalence of the morality of Islam, also refer to the system of the Mahdi.
Muslims should not be lethargic while sedition rules the world, while irreligiousness surrounds humanity with its troubles, while oppressed women, the elderly and children all around the world are crying out, saying, "Oh Lord, send us one of your protectors, save us". What Muslims should be doing with all their might and all their means is to scientifically and philosophically eradicate Darwinism and materialism, which are the roots of all these evils by using science, logic and technology most efficiently.
One of the paths that God has shown for Muslims to gain victory in their intellectual struggle is to give this struggle in unity. In other words, the world of Islam should unite under a spiritual leader and put up an intellectual struggle forming ranks like molten lead that merge with one another on the Path of God without regarding the differences of sect, culture, practice, race, ethnicity, community or group.
