A Muslim has a firm grasp of the most important secrets of life. He is a person who comprehends what purpose the universe was created and why he is on Earth. He knows that this world is only temporary and that life will end when Allah destines and he lives in accordance with this fact. He is fully aware of the fact that everything happens by Allah’s will and not a single leaf is able to fall but with His Knowledge as affirmed in the Holy Qur’an. He sees Allah wherever he turns, celebrates His praises and glorifies Him. His heart is always with the One Who created him in the first place and Who continuously grants him with uncountable blessings. Nothing can prevent him from glorifying Allah. While he is dealing with any good action or deed, his attention is always on Allah and His signs. Allah, the Almighty, announces this distinguishing trait of Muslims in a verse of the Holy Qur’an:
Those who remember Allah, standing, sitting and lying on their sides, and reflect on the creation of the heavens and the earth: “Our Lord, You have not created this for nothing. Glory be to You! So safeguard us from the punishment of the Fire.” (Surah Al’ Imran, 191)
Undoubtedly, this is the characteristic of those who are in love with Allah, who keep His will above everything else, who fear Him with great awe, who have no expectations from their life on Earth and whose hearts are filled with pure love for Allah. Certainly, this is a state that only a person could achieve by his own free will which Allah has blessed and created him with, therefore, it is a sign showing that through this gift (i.e free will), he has chosen Allah’s commands and the Hereafter over this world with great pleasure, love and deep enthusiasm. Whoever connects his heart to Allah, whoever tries to be closer to Him, to attain deeper faith whoever tries to attain His compassion and to reach Paradise, then Allah will guide him to success in his efforts. Allah, the Almighty, announces this fact in another verse of the Holy Qur’an:
If anyone desires to cultivate the Hereafter, We will increase him in his cultivation. If anyone desires to cultivate the world, We will give him some of it but he will have no share in the Hereafter. (Surat ash-Shura, 20)
