There are headlines in the media saying “The crying has resounded everywhere, families are miserable, etc." Does that suit us as Muslims? There are no such cries at the funerals of the PKK militants. On the contrary, they walk about with their heads held high, they promise revenge, they shout out slogans. Albeit unwittingly, reports about crying at the funerals serve as propaganda for the PKK.

Quotes
Crying for a martyr is not compatible with an Islamic upbringing. Our Prophet (saas) has prohibited it. Crying, mourning is found in all the pagan customs of the ancient Sumerians, the Akkadians, the Hittites, ancient Egypt, ancient Greece. They lament, they cry. But in Islam being a veteran, being a martyr is an honor.

Quotes
How could it be acceptable to cry after a martyr? It is a great honor, why are you not delighted? What is the reason for your being in this world? Isn't Heaven, the good pleasure of God, His blessing your goal? The martyr instantly passes to Heaven, what else do you want?

Quotes
They have raised heaven and earth during the Gezi Park incidents just because a few trees were cut down. The PKK is martyring our young saplings, our lions, every single day and these people don't even care. They do not even deal with it. They don't make even a peep for our martyrs.

Quotes
Those soldiers are blessed with the rank of martyrdom and you feel yourself distressed and pained, how is that possible? What does being a soldier mean? It means learning the art of dying and killing for the good pleasure of God, for our homeland. God is the One Who gives life and He is the One Who makes them become martyrs. What more do you ask for? Martyrdom is the highest rank for a soldier.

Quotes
The body of the martyr should be shown all around the city. The funerals of martyrs are important. The invocations saying "Allahu Akbar" should resound in the city. At least a million people should gather. Then the national conscious would spurred. The whole country would benefit from the spirituality of the martyr.

Quotes
Martyrs should not be washed, they should be buried with the uniforms they wore. Not even the slightest sign of sadness should be displayed. That is because martyrdom is a rank praised by God.

Quotes
Crying is not acceptable for us. We did not cry in Çanakkale. We did not cry in Dumlupınar. We did not cry in Malazgirt. Why would we cry? As a nation who desires martyrdom, as a nation who regards martyrdom as an honor, why would we cry for martyrs?

Quotes
Let us please put aside the habit of crying at the funerals of martyrs. It is not in compliance with the Qur'an, it is not in compliance with our customs; there is no such habit in the morality of Islam. That is a custom observed since the ancient Sumerians. It is not appropriate to cry after those who have gone to Heaven.

Quotes
God regards martyrdom as the highest form of love. That is what God likes the most. But of course the most acceptable martyrdom is attained while one is actually striving on the path of God. That is because such a person goes to war openly knowing that it is possible that he will be killed and will be martyred there. Going on a struggle on the path of God, without feeling fear, is what is most acceptable.

Quotes
Martyrs should not be washed. Martyrs are to be buried with their blood, in their uniforms. They are buried not with bands playing, but with takbirs, with salawats.

Quotes
God wants to be loved at the cost of one's life. That is why God loves martyrs. That is because God is the One Who gives that life. That is exactly the characteristic of a lover. But when He is not loved, God takes revenge. He says, "I create horror and I do not fear the horror that takes place. Love Me and I will love you." That is such a beautiful offer, such a beautiful response.

Quotes
When one gives his life on the path of God, that is what God approves of the most. God defines it as the greatest form of demonstration of love; martyrdom, being a martyr for God.

Quotes
When the time comes and a Muslim becomes a martyr, that is what God loves the most; that is the highest form of love. That is because it means one gives his life for God. Isn't one's life precious? He says, "My Lord, You made me love my life, I love You more than my life. My life is Yours. I am Yours." This is what it means. That is why Almighty God keeps martyrs in a separate place and does not make them die. They do not taste death.

Quotes
Martyrdom is what God likes the most. God finds the greatest love in that. But a Muslim should will for that, not just randomly but should sincerely and wholeheartedly will for that praying "My Lord, I ask martyrdom from You."
Other languages
Quotes
A martyr enjoys martyrdom when he becomes a martyr. That is why they say "he drank the sherbet of martyrdom." Because it is sweet and the lower-self enjoys it.

A Muslim should hold on to God to death. He should accept being martyred, becoming a veteran, to be imprisoned, to be put into an asylum. He should be able to be thankful to God when those things happen. Then God opens his path to the utmost.

Our Soldiers Did Not Forget The Families Of Our Martyred Village Guards

Quotes
The families of our martyrs should never be left alone. Their homes should be like prayer houses. They should be immaculate, sparking clean places in which God's Name is mentioned every day. Their visitors should clean the house for everyone. They should say, "Mother, let us clean the house for you." They should do the dishes if there is the need to do so, they should cook for them if they don't have food.
