The minds of many of those around the Prophet Moses (pbuh) were wrapped up with the unbelievers. I mean they'd gone to the desert but they did not forget the life they'd had back in Egypt. Fear of the future is religiously unlawful, a Muslim cannot think that way. God is the One Who creates every single second of our lives. All the precautions you take might come back to you as troubles. For instance, you might think about saving money but that might all end up going for cancer treatment or somehow otherwise be spent.
