Fear of God According to the Gospel

I tell you, my friends, do not be afraid of those who kill the body and after that can do no more. But I will show you Whom you should fear: Fear Him Who, after the killing of the body, has power to throw you into hell. Yes, I tell you, fear Him. (Luke, 12:4-5)

... So you must live in reverent fear of Him during your time as "foreigners in the land." (1 Peter, 1:17)

Show proper respect to everyone: Love the brotherhood of believers, fear God... (1 Peter, 2:17)

... to every nation, tribe, language and people. He said in a loud voice, "Fear God and give Him glory..." (Revelation, 14:6-7)

[Jesus:] "Do not be afraid of those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. Rather, be afraid of the One Who can destroy both soul and body in hell." (Matthew, 10:28)

For the Mighty One [God] has done great things for me—holy is His name. His mercy extends to those who fear Him, from generation to generation. (Luke, 1:49-50)

He and all his family were devout and God-fearing; he gave generously to those in need and prayed to God regularly. (Acts, 10:2)

Therefore, since we know what it means to fear the Lord, we try to persuade people. We ourselves are perfectly known to God. I hope we are also really known to your consciences. (2 Corinthians, 5:11)

He said in a loud voice, "Fear God and give Him glory, because the hour of His judgment has come. Worship Him Who made the heavens, the earth, the sea and the springs of water." (Revelation, 14:7)

The men replied, "... He is a righteous and God-fearing man, who is respected by all the Jewish people..." (Acts, 10:22)

Then Peter began to speak: "I now realize how true it is that God does not show favoritism but accepts men from every nation who fear Him and do what is right. (Acts, 10:34-35)

Brothers, children of Abraham, and you God-fearing Gentiles, it is to us that this message of salvation has been sent. (Acts, 13:26)

... Your wrath has come. The time has come for judging the dead, and for rewarding your servants the prophets and your saints and those who reverence Your name, both small and great—and for destroying those who destroy the earth. (Revelation, 11:18)

... But the other rebuked him, saying "Don't you fear God..." (Luke, 23:40)

... and sang the song of Moses the servant of God and the song of the Lamb [Jesus]: "Great and marvelous are Your deeds, Lord God Almighty. Just and true are Your ways, King of the ages. Who will not fear You, O Lord, and bring glory to Your name? For You alone are holy. All nations will come and worship before You, for Your righteous acts have been revealed." (Revelation, 15:3-4)

Then a voice came from the throne, saying: "Praise our God, all you His servants, you who fear Him, both small and great!" (Revelation, 19:5)

Therefore... let us... worship God acceptably with reverence and awe. (Hebrews, 12:28)
