The wisdom behind mistakes

926

Human beings are helpless entities with no power to do anything by themselves. They cannot even stand up to a tiny virus entering the body. Allah reveals human beings’ helplessness in this verse:

Mankind! An example has been made, so listen to it carefully. Those whom you call upon besides Allah are not even able to create a single fly, even if they were to join together to do it. And if a fly steals something from them, they cannot get it back. How feeble are both the seeker and the sought! (Surat al-Hajj, 73)

It is Allah (God) Who gives human beings their strength and intelligence. Everything a person says, “I am doing” is actually created in destiny by Allah. This awareness of faith stemming from fear and love of Allah bestows an extraordinary strength on Muslims. And since they place their trust in Him, their strength can never be shaken. And even if they make a mistake they are comfortable in the knowledge that Allah has created everything for the best in destiny. Indeed, as indicated in the verse, “… It may be that you hate something when it is good for you and it may be that you love something when it is bad for you. Allah knows and you do not know,” (Surat al-Baqara, 216) they never forget that there is something auspicious in all things that appear to be adverse, for which reason they must always look at matters through the eyes of wisdom. They note and reflect on the things that Allah has shown them as errors. They change themselves and improve their moral virtues in order to behave in the manner most compatible with the Qur’an. And in conclusion, their consciences are at ease since they strive to be able to hope for Allah’s good pleasure.
