The only way to take due pleasure from Allah's blessings is faith

1696

The sole way to attain true happiness is to have faith in Allah. This truth is revealed in the Quran by the verse, “Those who have believed and whose hearts are assured by the remembrance of Allah. Unquestionably, by the remembrance of Allah hearts are assured." (Surat ar-Ra’d 28). One can only save himself from the unhappiness and boredom he experiences when he grasps Allah’s Mercy and Grace. He can only take real pleasure from the life of this world and have real grasp of the blessings in this way.

As Allah reveals us in the verses; “Good!’ There is good in the world for those who do good, and the abode of the Hereafter is even better. How wonderful is the abode of those who have fear of Allah” (Surat An-Nahl, 30) “So Allah gave them the reward of the world and the best reward of the Hereafter.” (Surah ‘Al`Imran, 148), Allah grants a beautiful life only to those who have faith. For unbelievers, on the other hand, there is absolutely a “depressed life”, as is stated in the verse:

“But if anyone turns away from My reminder, his life will be a dark and narrow one and on the Day of Rising We will gather him blind." (Surah Taha, 124). No way other than having faith saves these people from this distressed life; they can not attain real bliss. Even if they have all the material opportunities available to them, they can not enjoy them in the real sense of the word. That is because a person must be able to appreciate these beauties in order to take pleasure from them. For instance he must recognize the flawless sequence in the leaves of a carnation, its scent, the softness of its texture and, more importantly, understand that this beauty is created as a blessing and a manifestation of Allah. It is only people of faith who can understand them in the true sense. That is because people who have faith in Allah are aware that evey detail in this world is a blessing of our Lord and think about Allah’s infinite might of Creation in every beauty. This adds to their love and devotion to Allah.

An individual who sees these facts and sincerely submits himself to Allah by “holding on to the rope of Allah” must be aware that he has “bonded to an unbreakable solid bracelet” and that, by Allah’s leave, nothing can ever give any harm to him. He must also know that he will enjoy Allah’s  blessings to its full extent both in this world and the Hereafter. Almighty Allah reveals in the Quran:

If Allah afflicts you with harm, no one can remove it except Him. If He desires good for you, no one can avert His favour. He bestows it on whichever of His servants He wills. He is Ever-Forgiving, Most Merciful. (Surat Yunus, 107)
