Some people, who do not know, understand, think or appreciate Allah properly, naturally cannot understand how Allah accepts their prayers. Even when they pray, they always doubt that their prayers will be accepted.
Allah responds to sincere prayers when these prayers are for good outcomes; Allah created humans only from a drop of water, the universe out of nothingness and therefore it is very easy for Him to give His servants what they want. The only thing that Allah wants from His servants to trust Him, to turn to Him with a sincere, faithful and patient heart.
However sometimes people make the mistake of giving up on praying after seeing that their wishes do not come true right after they pray. However, it must not be forgotten that ‘acceptance of the prayer’ doesn’t necessarily mean that it will happen exactly the way it was pictured by the person who prays because sometimes people ask for things that are not really good for them: ‘Man prays for evil just as he prays for good. Man is prone to be impetuous.’ (Surat al-Isra: 11)
Sometimes what a servant wants doesn’t happen right away or happens in a different way than envisioned by him and it might be because Allah is testing him. Allah might choose to give that person what he wants only after a while and it can be to test his patience or to make him more mature.
This is why we shouldn’t expect for everything we pray for to happen exactly the way we picture it. The great Islamic scholar Said Nursi once said that Allah might give a believer less than what is wanted, or sometimes more as a reward or maybe not give anything at all, for the aforementioned reasons. However, in any case, Allah always responds to the prayers.
It is important to be very sincere when praying to Allah, trying one’s best to have a very close connection with Him. It is very important to believe in Allah and fear Him very sincerely, and pray to be able to understand and appreciate His greatness, power, and love. A person who loves Allah with all his heart and mind, and submits to Allah with all his being, will gain an immense power. To this person, everything will come extremely easy. That is why the sincerity, honesty and goodness of a person all depend on the depth of his love, fear of and faith in Allah.
Allah made it very clear in the Quran that anything is possible if Allah wills. Allah explains in the Quran that when a person prays to Him with his all heart, without any doubts and with complete trust, He will accept those prayers: “If My servants ask you about Me, I am near. I answer the call of the caller when he calls on Me. They should therefore respond to Me and believe in Me so that hopefully they will be rightly guided.” (Surat al-Baqara: 186)
People can pray to our Lord anywhere, anytime and for anything. Allah tells us in the Quran that believers can pray to Him and think about Him wherever, whenever they want: “...those who remember Allah, standing, sitting and lying on their sides, and reflect on the creation of the heavens and the earth: ‘Our Lord, You have not created this for nothing. Glory be to You! So safeguard us from the punishment of the Fire. (Surah Al Imran: 191)
