1. HE DESCENDED FROM THE LINE OF THE PROPHET (SAAS)
It is related from Said ibn al Musayyab that the Prophet (saas) stated: “The Hazrat Mahdi (as) is from the line of my daughter, Fatima.” (Ibn Majah, 10/348)
It is related from the blessed Ali that the Prophet (saas) stated: “Even if no more than a day remains until Doomsday, Allah will send an individual (the Hazrat Mahdi (as)) from my Ahl al-Bayt.” (Sunan Abu Dawud, 5/92)
2. HE HAS A BEAUTIFUL AND RADIANT FACE
Imam Hussain is reported as saying: “When Hazrat Mahdi (AS) appears, people will not recognize him. Then HE [HAZRAT MAHDI (AS)] WILL COME HAVING A BEAUTIFUL VISAGE...” (Iqdud Durar, p. 41)
His face is radiant, just like a shining star. (al-Haythami, Al-Qawl al-Mukhtasar, p. 33; Al-Muttaqi al-Hindi, Al-Burhan fi Alamat al-Mahdi, p. 22)
3. HIS NOSE IS HANDSOME
His brow is broad, and his nose will be thin. (Hadith al-Tirmidhi)

Ahmad ibn Yusuf B. Ahmad al-Dimashqi al-Qaramani (1019), a famous Sunni scholar, writes in his book the “Akhbar al-Duwal:”
“…HE [HAZRAT MAHDI (AS)] WILL BE OF MEDIUM HEIGHT WITH A BEAUTIFUL FACE AND HAIR...” (Akhbar al-Duwal, p. 117 printed in 1382 (Hegira calendar)) 'Abd al-Malik al-Shafi'i al-Makki al-'Isami (1111), a famous historian resident in Macca, writes in his four volume work of history the “Simt al-Nujum al'awali:” “... 35. HAZRAT MAHDI (AS) WILL HAVE A VERY POWERFUL BODY AND VOICE; AT THE SAME TIME HIS WORDS AND SPEECH WILL HAVE A GREAT IMPACT ACROSS THE WORLD
Hazrat Riza replied to Rayyan Ibn Salti when he asked whether he were the commander of the faithful: Yes, I am also the commander of the faithful. But I am not the commander of the faithful who will fill the world with justice. The promised Qaim [Hazrat Mahdi (as)] will arise advanced in age, but will have a youthful appearance. HE WILL BE SO POWERFUL THAT IF HE STRETCHES HIS HAND OUT TO THE LARGEST TREE IN THE WORLD HE WILL UPROOT IT AND CAST IT AWAY, AND IF HE SHOUTS AMONG THE MOUNTAINS, HARD ROCKS WILL TURN INTO POWDER. He will have Musa’s (as) staff and Sulayman’s (as) ring... Allah will keep him hidden from sight until He wills. He will then appear and will fill the world with justice where it was formerly filled with oppression. (Bihar Al-Anwar, Vol. 52, p. 32; Ithbat Al-Hudat, Vol. 6, p. 19)
36. THE SPREAD OF CORRUPTION
The Mahdi, one of my children, comes into being, by the blessing of Allah, upon the approach of the Day of Judgment; the weakening of the believers' hearts because of death, hunger, fitna and the disappearance of the Sunnah; and the emergence of innovations and the loss of means by which to enjoin the right and forbid the wrong. His justice and prosperity will ease the believers' hearts, and friendship and love will settle between the non-Arab and the Arab nations. Disorder, corruption [fitna], and fear will emerge in the West... Corruption will proliferate. (Mukhtasar Tazkirah al-Qurtubi, p. 440)
37. CORRUPTION THAT TURNS PEOPLE AWAY FROM THE QUR’AN
Before the Last Hour, there will be commotions [fitna] like pieces of a dark night in which a man will be a believer in the morning and an infidel in the evening, or a believer in the evening and infidel in the morning. (Sunan Abu Dawud)
38. CORRUPTION WILL SPREAD EVERYWHERE

Mushrikun [idolaters] will be standing over there on the bank of a black river [Rakabeh] on the other side. There will be a war between them. Allah will deprive both armies of a victory ... Narrated from Abu Jaffar Ibn Muhammad Ibn Ali (ra).
Three or seven days, AFTER YOU SEE A FIRE FROM THE EAST, EXPECT TO SEE THE APPEARANCE OF AL-I MUHAMMAD [HAZRAT MAHDI (as)], an angel from the sky will call out the name of Hazrat Mahdi (as), and everyone in East and West will hear that voice. So much so that those asleep will wake from fear, those standing will squat down, and those seated will rise to their feet. (Al-Burhan fi Alamat al-Mahdi Akhir al-zaman, p. 32)
74. THE PKK TERROR THAT REACHED A PEAK IN THE WAKE OF THE STOPPING OF THE WATERS OF THE RIVER EUPHRATES IS ONE OF THE PORTENTS OF THE COMING OF HAZRAT MAHDI (AS)
“The Hour will not come to pass before the water of the EUPHRATES STOPS TO UNVEIL THE A MOUNTAIN OF GOLD, for which people WILL FIGHT. NINETY-NINE OUT OF ONE HUNDRED WILL DIE [in the fighting], and every man among them will say: 'Perhaps I may be the only one to remain alive. (Muslim, Fitan, 29)
THE EUPHRATES WOULD SOON UNCOVER A MOUNTAIN OF GOLD and when the people would bear of it they would flock towards it but the people who would possess that (treasure) (would say): If we allow these persons to take out of it they would take away the whole of it. SO THEY WOULD FIGHT AND NINETY-NINE OUT OF ONE HUNDRED WOULD BE KILLED. (Muslim, Fitan, 29)
“… FOR WHICH PEOPLE WOULD FIGHT. NINETY-NINE OUT OF EACH ONE HUNDRED WOULD DIE but every man amongst them would say that perhaps he would be the one who would be saved (and thus possess this gold).”
75. SPLITTING OF THE MOON
The Hour has drawn near, and the moon has split. (Surat al-Qamar, 54:1)
The people of Mecca asked Allah's Apostle to show them a miracle. So he showed them the moon split in two halves between which they saw the Hiram' mountain. (Bukhari)

78. DISORDER IN SHAM, IRAQ AND ARABIA
Our Prophet (saas) said: "There will be such troubles and calamities that nobody will be able to find a place of shelter. These woes will move around Sham, fall upon Iraq, and tie the hands and feet of the Arabian Peninsula. The community of Islam will fight against troubles in the steppes. Nobody will feel any sympathy for them or even say: "Alas!" As they try to remedy their woes on the one hand, they will emerge again on the other." (Muntakhab Kanz al-`Ummal, vol. 5, pp. 38-39)
79. TRIBULATION IN SHAM
The tribulation in Sham will calm down on the one hand and flare up again on another. This corruption will not end until an angel from the sky calls: "The Mahdi is your leader. The Mahdi is your caliph." (Risalat al-Khuruj al-Mahdi, p. 63)

At a time when the world will be in harj [utter confusion and disorder], fitna will appear, people will be attacked, the old will not have mercy on the young, and the young will not show respect to the old, Allah will send someone to eradicate hostility and conquer the castles of perversion, uphold faith in the End Times just as I upheld it formerly, someone who will fill this Earth with justice where violence prevailed before. 100. CORRUPTION LEADING TO DISARRAY EVERYWHERE

During the three years just before the Dajjal comes, there will be one year when the sky will withhold one third of its rain and the Earth one-third of its fruits. 111. ONE TYPE OF CORRUPTION WILL SPREAD EVERYWHERE:
One kind of corruption [fitna] will surface, from which no party will be able to protect itself, and spread immediately in all directions. This situation will persist until someone comes and says: "O people, from now on your leader is the Mahdi." (Ibn Hajar Haythami, Al-Qawl al-Mukhtasar fi 'Alamat al-Mahdi al-Muntazar, p. 23.)
112. A FAILURE TO THINK AS THE QUR'AN COMMANDS
It would happen near the time when the knowledge is taken away. I asked: "Allah's Messenger, how would the knowledge become extinct while we recite the Qur'an and we would teach it to our sons and then our descendants would teach it to their sons till the Day of Resurrection?" He replied: "... Do these Jews and the Christians not recite the Torah and the Bible without acting upon [the dictates] that are mentioned in them?" (Sunan Ibn Majah)

...Abu Bashir says: Imam Abu Abdullah Jaffar Sadiq said: My father told me: A FIRE WILL CERTAINLY APPEAR FROM AZERBAIJAN. AND NOTHING WILL BE ABLE TO STAND IN ITS WAY. STAY IN YOUR HOMES WHEN THIS HAPPENS. Do whatever we do. (In other words, when we stay at home, you stay at home, too). And when our Qaim [Hazrat Mahdi (as)] moves, run swiftly and without stopping towards him...(Sheikh Muhammad bin Ibrahim Nomani, al-Ghaybah al-Nomani p. 311)
114. MUSLIMS ENVY NON-MUSLIMS
The Prophet (saas) said: "Surely you will follow the ways of those nations that were before you, span by span and cubit by cubit [i.e., inch by inch], so much so that even if they entered a lizard's hole, you would follow them." (Sahih Bukhari)
115. PROPAGANDA THAT TURNS PEOPLE FROM THE MORALITY OF THE QUR'AN
At that period, there will be some summoners [propagandists] who will call people to the gates of Hell. Whoever answers the call of these summoners, they will cast him into Hell. "O Messenger, can you tell us the characteristics of this group of summoners?" The Prophet (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) answered: "I will answer, they are a group of people from our nation who speak our language." (Mukhtasar Tazkirah al-Qurtubi, p. 382, no. 698)
116. HYPOCRITICAL AND FALSE CLERICS
Wolves will give readings in the End Times. Let those who live to see those times seek shelter from their evil in God. They will be very corrupt people. Hypocrisy will prevail, and nobody will be ashamed of it and its manifestations. (Tirmidhi)
117. DEGENERATION AMONG POLITICIANS
In the End Times there will be cruel rulers, wicked ministers, treacherous judges, and lying hodjas. If anyone goes to them, let him not be allied to them, help them, or show them the way. (Risalat al-Khuruj al-Mahdi, p. 182)
118. THE ABANDONMENT OF COMMANDING WHAT IS GOOD AND PROHIBITING WHAT IS UNLAWFUL
The Hour will approach when good is abandoned and nobody enjoins it, and evil is committed and no one forbids it. (Mukhtasar Tazkirah al-Qurtubi, p. 480)
119. GOOD IS CONFUSED WITH EVIL
What will become of you when you do not enjoin the right and forbid the wrong?" he asked. [Those around him asked in amazement:] "Will that truly happen?" "Yes, and even worse!" he replied, and went on to ask: "What will become of you when you enjoin the wrong and forbid the good?" Those around him were astonished: "O Prophet! Will that also happen?" "Yes, and even worse!" he replied, and continued: "What will become of you when you regard good as evil and evil as good?" The people around him asked: "O Prophet! Will that also come to pass?" "Yes, it will," he replied. (Ibn Abi Ya'la, Musnad; al-Tabarani, al-Awsat)
120. THE USE OF MOSQUES AND PLACES OF WORSHIP FOR DIFFERENT PURPOSES
The Hour will not come until mosques cease to be places where people pray, but become places where people stop by. (Son Zamanla İlgili Hadisler [Hadiths Related to the End Times], p. 87)
121. FAMILIES ENCOURAGE WICKEDNESS
The destruction of a person will be in the hands of his parent; if not, of his wife; and again if not, in his relative. They will blame him for his failure to earn his living, cause him to drift into deeds of which he is incapable, and ultimately make him get involved in dark and dangerous deeds, at the cost of his destruction. 122. THE NUMBERS OF TRUE BELIEVERS ARE FEW IN NUMBERS
There will come a time for my people when the mosques will be full of people, but they will be empty of right guidance. (al-Haqim)

Let him who reads the Qur'an ask [his reward] from Allah, because in the End Times many people will read it and seek their reward from other people. (Tirmidhi)
124. PEOPLE BELIEVE IN ASTROLOGY AND DENY DESTINY
The Hour will come when people will believe in the stars and reject Qadar [the Divine Decree of destiny]. (Al-Haythami, Kitab al-Fitan)
125. PEOPLE GO ON THE HAJJ FOR REASONS OTHER THAN ALLAH'S APPROVAL
A time will come when the wealthy perform Hajj for travel, the average man for commerce, their scholars for ostentation and hypocrisy, and the poor for begging for alms. (Ahmad Diya'al-Din al-Kamushkhanawi, Ramuz al-Ahadith, p. 503, no. 8)
126. PEOPLE ATTACH PRIORITY TO THEIR OWN WORLDLY DESIRES
A time will come when people's concerns will be making a living, their honor will be their possessions, and their qiblah [the direction Muslims face during formal worship] will be their women. Their religion will be gold and silver. These are the people's evils, and they will have nothing in Allah's sight. (al-Sulami)
127. SOCIAL DEGENERATION

128. OBEDIENCE TO TRAITORS, AND TRAITORS REGARDED AS HONEST MEN
Soon years containing treacheries and tricks will come. A liar will be declared true in them and a true man will be declared a liar; a treacherous will be designated as trustworthy and a trustworthy as a treacherous. (Ibn Majah)
129. A DECLINE IN THE NUMBERS OF THE TRUSTWORTHY
In the End Times, people will be carrying out their trade, but there will hardly be a trustworthy person. (Sahih Bukhari, Sahih Muslim)

131. THE ABANDONMENT OF ALMS

132. THE ABANDONMENT OF THE DAILY PRAYERS
Hudaifa bin Yaman narrated that Allah's Messenger (saas) said: Islam would extinquish just as the embroidery of a fabric become worn-out so much so that none would know... what prayer is. (Sunan Ibn Majah)
133. THE SPREAD OF SLANDER AND BEARING FALSE WITNESS
Verily, in the presence of the Last Hour there will be false testimony and concealing evidence. (Ibn Ahmad Hanbal and al-Hakim)

It becomes obvious that the Hour is drawing near When people esteem the well-off, and people who are superior to him stand up and salute him. (Mukhtasar Tazkirah al-Qurtubi, pp. 480-81)
135. PEOPLE WHO ATTACH GREATER IMPORTANCE TO ANIMALS THAN TO HUMANS
When Doomsday approaches, people will have puppies. They will hold these puppies much dearer than their own children. (al-Tabarani, al-Hakim)

Amr ibn Nufayl says: I heard the Imam Hussein (AS) say: “The one you await (the Mahdi) will not appear until you say you are distanced from one another, until you spit in one another’s faces and accuse one another of denial and until you curse one another.” I asked, ‘Then there is nothing auspicious at that time?’ He replied: “All the auspiciousness is in that period. Our Qaim (The Mahdi) will appear and put an end to all that.” (Sheikh Muhammad bin Ibrahim Nomani, al-Ghaybah al-Nomani, p. 241)
139. THE WEAKENING OF THE INSTITUTION OF THE FAMILY

In the End Times, forgery and bribery in business life will become common and will continue to spread, for:
Verily a time will reach the people, when the believer would not be concerned over what he earned from money, whether it is from halal [lawful] or haram [unlawful]. (Ibn Ahmad Hanbal)
When Doomsday approaches... people will cheat in measures and weights. (Ramuz al Hadith, vol. 33, p.7)
Taking bribery... is among the signs of Doomsday. (Mukhtasar Tazkirah al-Qurtubi, p. 454)
142. THE PREVALENCE OF BOASTING AND SHOW

Count six things before the Last Hour comes: My death, then the conquest of Jerusalem, then a mortal disease which will affect you like qu'as [deadly pain in the chest] in sheep. (Sunan Ibn Majah, as-Sa`ah, p. 123)
148. A RISE IN GOSSIP AND MOCKERY
As Judgment draws near... the most respected people of the age will be flatterers and sycophants. (at-Tabarani )
There will be an abundance of critics, tale-carriers, backbiters, and taunters in society. (Al-Muttaqi al-Hindi, Muntakhab Kanz al-`Ummaal)
The Last Hour will not arrive until people come forth who make a living with their tongues, just as cows eat with their tongues. (Tirmidhi)
A time will come when a man will remain among his people but live in fear of being derided. (ad-Daylami)
149. INCREASED LEVELS OF SUICIDE
People kill themselves, and mischief prevails all over the world. (Ibn Kathir, An-Nihaya, vol.1, p. 131)

" O Anas! People will build cities. Some of those cities will be called 'Basra and Kusaire'." (Mukhtasar Tazkirah al-Qurtubi)
153. THE SHORTENING OF TIME

Hisham Ibn Salim narrates that Imam Sadiq said:
“HAZRAT MAHDI (AS) WILL NOT APPEAR UNTIL ALL SECTIONS OF THE PEOPLE HAVE ASSUMED POWER.” Thus nobody will say “IF WE WERE IN POWER AND HAD FORMED A GOVERNMENT WE WOULD HAVE BEHAVED JUSTLY.”

172. AT THE TIME WHEN HAZRAT MAHDI (AS) APPEARS, THE MAJORITY OF PEOPLE WILL NOT PERFORM THE DAILY PRAYER AND WILL EVEN BE UNAWARE THAT WINE IS UNLAWFUL IN ISLAM
According to Hudhayfa, The Prophet of Allah (saas) said:
“O Hudhayfa! On that day (when Hazrat Mahdi (as) appears), they will have departed the faith. THEY WILL THINK THAT WINE IS LAWFUL AND WILL NOT PERFORM THE DAILY PRAYER.” (Al-Uqayli "An-Najm al-saqib fi Bayan Anna al-Mahdi min Awladi Ali Ibn Abi Talib Ale't-Temam wa al-qamal)
173. HEAVY RAIN FOLLOWING THE DROUGHT IS A SIGN OF THE EMERGENCE OF HAZRAT MAHDI (AS)
At Hazrat Mahdi’s (as) coming, A DOUBLE-TOOTHED COMET WILL APPEAR AND WILL BE SO BRIGHT THAT IT WILL SHINE LIKE THE FULL MOON. After the appearance of this COMET THERE WILL BE SUCH RAIN THAT GREAT DAMAGE WILL BE CAUSED.But people will welcome that rain. Because NO RAIN WILL HAVE FALLEN FOR THE PREVIOUS 3 YEARS. 174. THE FOLLOWERS OF HAZRAT MAHDI (AS) WILL BE ABLE TO COMMUNICATE WITH WHEREVER IN THE WORLD THEY WISH WITHIN A FEW MINUTES BY WAY OF THE INTERNET

179. SOME OF THE YOUNG FOLLOWERS OF HAZRAT MAHDI (AS) WILL BREAK AWAY FROM AND ABANDON THEIR FAMILIES WHICH HAVE BECOME CAUGHT UP IN THE CORRUPTION OF THE ANTICHRIST DUE TO THE PRESSURE AND INTIMIDATION THEY SUBJECT THEM TO
He said: "Look for them at the edges of the world. Their lives are simple, their homes are on their backs, even if present they are not recognized, IF THEY ARE LOST NONE WILL LOOK FOR THEM, IF THEY ARE SICK NONE WILL VISIT THEM, and if they wish to marry none will come to them. If THEY DIE, NONE WILL ATTEND THEIR FUNERALS. They share their possessions equally among them and visit one another’s graves; their wishes are all the same, even if they are in different cities." 180. HAZRAT MAHDI (AS) WILL APPEAR WHEN PEOPLE ARE LEAST AMICABLE AND MOST AT CONFLICT WITH ONE ANOTHER
Mufazzal Ibn Omar says: Imam Abu Abdullah Jaffar Sadiq said: ...And HE [HAZRAT MAHDI (AS)] WILL APPEAR WHEN PEOPLE ARE MOST EVILLY DISPOSED TO ONE ANOTHER. (Sheikh Muhammad bin Ibrahim Nomani, al-Ghaybah al-Nomani, p. 187)
181. THERE WILL BE A RISE IN DRUG-RELATED DEATHS AND KILLINGS BEFORE THE COMING OF HAZRAT MAHDI (AS)

182. HAZRAT MAHDI (AS) WILL BE BORN AT HOME
Imam Zayn-ul Abidin said: "Our Qaim [Hazrat Mahdi (as)] will resemble the messengers of Allah in various ways. He will individually resemble Nuh (as), Ibrahim (as), Musa (as), ‘Isa (as), Ayyup (as) and Muhammad (saas) and the other prophets. HE WILL RESEMBLE Nuh (as) in being long-lived, IBRAHIM (AS) IN HIS BIRTH BEING CONCEALED (AT HOME) and away from the public eye, Musa (as) in his state of fear (in the intensity of the threats he faces; facing the threats of being killed, plots, arrest, detention and exile), and in his living apart (in constant concealment), ‘Isa (as) in people constantly disputing over him (in some people saying, ‘Hazrat Mahdi (as) will come’ and other saying, he will not.’), Ayyup (as) in maturing after being rescued from a great trouble (Hazrat Mahdi (as) will suffer many difficulties, sicknesses and troubles, but, like the Prophet Ayyup (as), he will be freed from them by Allah’s mercy) and Muhammad (saas) in his appearing with a sword (Hazrat Mahdi (as) will carry the sacred relics of our Prophet (saas), his holy standard, sword and robe)." (Kamal’ud-Din p. 322, chapter 31. hadith 3)
183. THE ''RAINING DOWN OF STONES AND THE LIKE'' DESCRIBED IN THE HADITH IS TAKING PLACE WITH BOMBINGS TARGETING MANY PLACES IN THE WORLD
From Aysha: «AT THE END OF THIS COMMUNITY, there will be collapse AND A CHANGE IN APPEARANCE AND STONES WILL RAIN DOWN...» (Muhammad Ibn 'Abd Al-Rasul Al-Barzanji, Portents of Doomsday, p. 111)
According to what is narrated from Ali Ibn Abu Talib and Abu Huraira, the Messenger of Allah (saas) said:

184. SOME PEOPLE WHO BELIEVE THAT THEY ARE DESCENDED FROM APES BY WAY OF EVOLUTION WILL ASSUME THE APPEARANCE OF APES AND PIGS
“I swear that SOME PEOPLE FROM MY COMMUNITY... WILL TURN INTO APES AND SWINE (PIGS).” (Ramuz al-Ahadith, Hadith no: 5711)
185. PEOPLE'S APPEARANCES WILL BE IMPAIRED AND UGLY IN THE END TIMES

Na’im narrated from Ka’ab:
Dajjal BESIEGES THE BELIEVERS at “Bayt al-Maqdis” (the place close to the Dome of the Rock, the Palestine) AND SUCH A SEVERE HUNGER IS INFLICTED ON THEM (THE BELIEVERS) that they will be obliged to eat beams of the archs. (Hadith classified by Jallaladdin As-Suyuti, The Portents of the Mahdi of the End Times, p.48)
187. ONE SIGN OF HAZRAT MAHDI (AS) IS THAT HE WILL BE SINGLE
Mas'udi narrates: "When Ali Ibn Hazma, Ibn-i Siraj and Ibn-i Abi Said came into the presence of Imam Riza on one occasion Ali Ibn Hazma asked the imam: "O son of Rasulullah, we have related from you (the imams od the ahl al-bayt) that; EVERY IMAM WILL SEE HIS CHILD BEFORE HE DIES (Is this true?) The imam replied: "Have you added this to the account? APART FROM THE QAIM [HAZRAT MAHDI (AS)]?” (Isbat-al Wasiya (Mas'udi), p. 201)
187. HAZRAT MAHDI (AS) WILL STRUGGLE AGAINST THE HYPOCRITES, WHO WILL OCCUPY THE VERY LOWEST LEVEL OF THE FLAMES
He [Hazrat Mahdi (as)] will depart from them for a time, and thus people of deviance will be separated. So that the ignorant will say: There is no need for the Family of Muhammad [one from the line of our Prophet (saas)] in order to reach Allah.”(Sheikh Muhammad bin Ibrahim Nomani, al-Ghaybah al-Nomani, p. 161)

The Dajjal will say, "I am the Lord of the worlds... It is by my leave that this Sun follows its course, if you wish, I can halt its progress!” They will respond by asking him to halt it.
