1- Talking about Hazrat Mahdi (as) and giving the good news about the coming of Hazrat Mahdi (as) to Muslims is the Sunnah of our Prophet (saas).
In his speeches Mr. Adnan Oktar gives special importance to Mahdism and devotes a considerable space to this subject. There is no doubt that this stems from the fact that Mr. Adnan Oktar takes the verses of the Qur’an and the Sunnah of our Prophet (saas) as guides to himself.
In the Qur’an Allah revealed that it is an important duty of all Muslims to strive for the dominion of Islamic morality over the world. There are many verses in the Qur’an about this subject. And in compliance with the law of Allah, there has always been a spiritual leader who leads the Muslims in preaching the true religion and guides them towards faith in every period. Allah has told in the verses of the Qur’an that He sends a Prophet to all communities who will show them the right path. So in the End Times, the individual who will lead Muslims to the morality of the Quran and true path and who will unite them under one roof is Hazrat Mahdi (as). This subject has been heralded to people through the authentic hadiths of our Prophet (saas) almost 14 centuries ago. Our Prophet (saas) pointed to the importance of this subject in his hadiths and told that Muslims should give one another the glad tidings by bringing this subject to the agenda:
“GIVE GLAD TIDINGS OF THE MAHDI. He is from the Quraysh and is one of my house.” (Al-Burhan fi Alamat al-Mahdi Akhir al-Zaman, p.13)
In another hadith, which reads: “The Mahdi will appear, AND EVERYONE WILL SPEAK ONLY OF HIM, drink of his love AND SPEAK OF NOTHING ELSE,” (Al-Muttaqi al-Hindi, Al-Burhan fi Alamat al-Mahdi Akhir az-Zaman, p. 33) our Prophet (saas) stated that when Hazrat Mahdi (as) appears, everyone will speak of this holy individual.
Given this state Mr. Adnan Oktar, in line with the hadiths of our Prophet (saas), gives Muslims the glad tidings of the coming of Hazrat Mahdi (as), introduces Hazrat Mahdi (as) to people and very often mentions Hazrat Mahdi (as) in his speeches, as did our Prophet (saas).
In his time, our Prophet (saas) told both Muslims who were with him and the generations who would ive after him about Hazrat Mahdi (as) and devoted an extensive space to Hazrat Mahdi (as) in his speeches. If Mahdism were an insignificant subject or an issue which did not deserve special mention, we would surely have seen it, especially in the speeches of our Prophet (saas). However quite the contrary, by the guidance of Allah, our Prophet (saas) considered this subject to be of great importance himself and also encouraged Muslims to keep this issue alive in every age and to give its good news to the entire Muslim community.
2-For over 1400 years, all the great Islamic scholars gave the glad tidings of the coming of Hazrat Mahdi (as) to Muslims; devoted a considerable space to this subject in their works and conversations.
Since the time of our Prophet (saas), Islamic scholars who have lived since the 14th century emphasized the importance of Mahdism; narrated the hadiths and devoted hundreds of pages to expounding the characteristics of Hazrat Mahdi (as). Each one of them are people who have gone down in the history of Islam as great Islamic scholars, who showed the way to Muslims on many occasions and who had become the qutb (the greatest saint) of the period they lived in. So these hadith imams who are the elders of the Ahl Al-Sunnah placed great importance on Mahdism and expounded this subject in their works. Bediuzzaman Said Nursi who is the bearer of the good tiding of Hazrat Mahdi (as), the qutb of the Hijri 13th century and a big Islamic scholar, devoted hundreds of pages in all of his works to the coming of Hazrat Mahdi (as).

3-Our Almighty Lord prepared the whole world for Mahdism since the time of Prophet Adam (as) and the creation of the world.
We wrote down in the Zabur, after the Reminder came: ‘It is My servants who are righteous who will inherit the Earth.’ (Surat al-Anbiya’, 105)
Since the time of the creation of the world and Prophet Adam (as), Allah prepared the whole world and all incidents that happened throughout history for Mahdism. People have been given the good news of the coming of Hazrat Mahdi (as) in the time of Prophet Jesus (as) by means of Injil, in the time of Prophet Moses (as) by means of the Torah and in the time of Prophet David (as) by means of Psalms. (Information about Hazrat Mahdi (as) explained as Paraclete in the Gospel) and the words that explain Hazrat Mahdi (as) in the Torah.) In order to make the morality of Islam prevail the world, Allah first made irreligiousness prevail the world before the coming of Hazrat Mahdi (as). All the wars in the 20th century; World Wars I and II, acts of terror and anarchy that dominate the world, oppression, hardship, misery, pain, hunger, poverty and conflicts in the Muslim-inhabited regions are all incidents especially created before the coming of Hazrat Mahdi (as). By means of the hadith of our Prophet (saas), Allah informed humanity about hundreds of events that will give the news of the coming of Hazrat Mahdi (as); and a majority of these portents have been realized in this age again especially for the coming of Hazrat Mahdi (as). (The Portents of the coming of Hazrat Mahdi (as)). Our Lord told that after centuries, He will send Prophet Jesus (as) whom He raised up to Himself, back to Earth for such an honored task. All of these are events, which change the course of the world and are defined as a milestone, are very great and important historical events.
The fact that Allah created all of these historical developments as phases for the coming of Hazrat Mahdi (as), no doubt indicates the importance of the subject of Mahdism. Despite these, considering the subject of Mahdism and Hazrat Mahdi (as) as insignificant and thinking that there is no need to constantly bring them to the agenda is a very misleading point of view.
Allah revealed in one of the hadiths of our Prophet (saas), “Even if a single day remained in the world, He will prolong that day for his coming.” Even only this hadith indicates how important it is for Muslims to understand the importance of Mahdism:
Narrated from Abdullah (r.a.): The Messenger of Allah (saas) said: “A man whose name is like my name from the Family of my House will govern…EVEN IF A SINGLE DAY REMAINED IN THE WORLD, ALLAH, THE EXALTED, WILL PROLONG THAT DAY FOR HIS COMING. (Sunan al-Tirmidhi, 4/92)
4-In the Qur’an it is promised that Islamic morality will prevail in the world. Our Prophet (saas), on the other hand, informed us that Hazrat Mahdi (as) will be instrumental in this great event longed for for 14 centuries. Considering the mention of Mahdism as insignificant and unnecessary would be also to consider the dominion of Islamic morality as insignificant.
Allah promised in many verses of the Qur’an that there will be a period, when He will make Islamic morality prevail the whole world. Also in the hadiths, it is told that this promise will be realized with the coming of Hazrat Mahdi (as). Nevertheless, to say that Mahdism is of no importance (Allah is beyond this) means that there is a point of view that cannot appreciate the importance of the Qur’an, Islam and the dominion of Islamic morality in the world.
Yet, the verses Allah revealed in the Qur’an are very clear. Allah will dominate the true religion Islam throughout the world. In every age, Allah sends a messenger who warns Muslims, guides them to sincere faith and unites them under a single union. This is the sunnah of Allah. And Allah told through our Prophet (saas) that the moral leader of Muslims in the End Times, the individual who will be instrumental in the domination of Islam will be Hazrat Mahdi (as). The Muslim world has kept Mahdism on the agenda for over 1400 years since the time of our Prophet (saas), celebrated Hazrat Mahdi (as) with love and sincerely prayed to Allah in order to be among the ones who lived in his period. Mahdism is a subject that Muslims should not be avoiding especially in the End Times we live in, when all of the portents of the coming of Hazrat Mahdi (as) have been realized. It is of utmost importance that all Muslims talk about Mahdism with enthusiasm, resolutely keep it on the agenda and give its good news to the Muslims of the world with this historical event that will be realized in this century.
Some of the verses of the Qur’an through which Allah told that He will dominate the Islamic morality in the world and points out to the coming of Hazrat Mahdi (as) are as follows:
Allah has promised those of you who believe and do right actions that He will make them successors in the land AS HE MADE THOSE BEFORE THEM SUCCESSORS, AND WILL FIRMLY ESTABLISH FOR THEM THEIR RELIGION WITH WHICH HE IS PLEASED AND GIVE THEM, IN PLACE OF THEIR FEAR, SECURITY. ‘THEY WORSHIP ME, NOT ASSOCIATING ANYTHING WITH ME.’ ANY WHO DISBELIEVE AFTER THAT, SUCH PEOPLE ARE DEVIATORS. (Surat an-Nur, 55)
And (He will give you) other things you love: SUPPORT FROM ALLAH AND IMMINENT VICTORY. Give good news to the believers! (Surat as-Saff, 13)
We wrote down in the Zabur, after the Reminder came: ‘IT IS MY SERVANTS WHO ARE RIGHTEOUS WHO WILL INHERIT THE EARTH.’ (Surat al-Anbiya’, 105)
Our Word was given before TO OUR SERVANTS, THE MESSENGERS, THAT THEY WOULD CERTAINLY BE HELPED. IT IS OUR ARMY WHICH WILL BE VICTORIOUS. (SURAT as-Saffat, 171-173)
Allah has written, ‘I WILL BE VICTORIOUS, I AND MY MESSENGERS.’ ALLAH IS MOST STRONG, ALMIGHTY. (Surat al-Mujadala, 21)
It is He Who sent His Messenger with guidance and the Religion of Truth (Islam) TO EXALT IT OVER EVERY OTHER RELIGION, though the idolaters hate it. (Surat as-Saff, 9)
IT IS HE WHO SENT HIS MESSENGER WITH THE GUIDANCE AND THE RELIGION OF TRUTH TO EXALT IT OVER EVERY OTHER RELIGION and Allah suffices as a witness. (Surat al-Fath, 28)
It is He Who sent His Messenger with guidance and the Religion of Truth TO EXALT IT OVER EVERY OTHER RELIGION, even though the idolaters detest it. (Surat at-Tawba, 33)
(Their Lord revealed to them,) ‘WE WILL LEAVE YOU THE LAND TO LIVE IN AFTER THEM. That is the reward of those who fear My station and fear My threat.’ They asked for Allah’s victory, and every obdurate tyrant failed. (Surah Ibrahim, 14-15)
WHEN ALLAH’S HELP AND VICTORY HAVE ARRIVED AND YOU HAVE SEEN PEOPLE ENTERING ALLAH’S RELIGION IN DROVES, then glorify your Lord’s praise and ask His forgiveness. He is the Ever-Returning.( Surat Surat an-Nasr, 1-3)
TRULY WE HAVE GRANTED YOU A CLEAR VICTORY, so that Allah may forgive you your earlier errors and any later ones and complete His blessing upon you, and guide you on a Straight Path. and so that Allah may help you with a mighty help. (Surat al-Fath, 1-3)
… He knew what you did not know and ordained, in place of this, AN IMMINENT VICTORY.... (Surat al-Fath, 27)
… and the disbelievers will soon know WHO HAS THE ULTIMATE ABODE...(Surat ar-Rad, 42)
Say: ‘TRUTH HAS COME AND FALSEHOOD HAS VANISHED. Falsehood is always bound to vanish.’ (Surat al-Isra’, 81)
AND WE BEQUEATHED TO THE PEOPLE WHO HAD BEEN OPPRESSED THE EASTERNMOST PART OF THE LAND… (Surat al-A‘raf, 137)
They desire to extinguish Allah’s Light with their mouths. BUT ALLAH REFUSES TO DO OTHER THAN PERFECT HIS LIGHT, EVEN THOUGH THE DISBELIEVERS DETEST IT. (Surat at-Tawba, 32)
They desire to extinguish Allah’s Light with their mouths but ALLAH WILL PERFECT HIS LIGHT, though the disbelievers hate it. (Surat as-Saff, 8)
He BEQUEATHED THEIR LAND, THEIR HOUSES AND THEIR WEALTH TO YOU, AND ANOTHER LAND YOU HAD NOT YET TRODDEN ON. Allah has power over all things. (Surat al-Ahzab, 27)
ALLAH CONFIRMS THE TRUTH BY HIS WORDS, even though the evildoers hate it. (Surah Yunus, 82)
(Believers are) those who, IF WE ESTABLISH THEM FIRMLY ON THE EARTH, will perform prayer and give the alms, and command what is right and forbid what is wrong. The end result of all affairs is with Allah. (Surat al-Hajj, 41)
DO NOT GIVE UP AND DO NOT BE DOWNHEARTED. YOU SHALL BE UPPERMOST IF YOU ARE BELIEVERS. (Surah Al ‘Imran, 139)
5-In the Qur’an, it is revealed that throughout history there has been a struggle between the evil and the good, between dajjalism and Mahdism, between the false and the true religion. Now in the End Times the power that will defeat dajjalism and the solution to almost every problem will be Mahdism.
The words of Allah in the verses of the Qur’an and the information provided in the hadiths of our Prophet (saas) clearly indicate the importance of Mahdism. In the Qur’an, it is revealed that in every period throughout history there has been the struggle of dajjals and Mahdis. And these two lines of thought; meaning the struggle between the believers and the unbelievers and between the truth and the false will continue until the Day of Judgment.
For example, Prophet Abraham (as) has been the Mahdi of his time and Nimrod has been the dajjal of the time. Prophet Moses (as) has been the Mahdi of his time and the Pharaoh has been the dajjal of the time. And in all phases of history, there has been a very fierce struggle of the dajjals and the Mahdis at close quarters.
Our Prophet (saas) told that the dajjal of the End Times will be the most ferocious, effective and powerful dajjal movement ever seen until our day. On the contrary, Allah has made Hazrat Mahdi (as) of the End Times ever so important and the struggle of Hazrat Mahdi (as) with the dajjal and his victory ever so a great incident.
Badiuzzaman Said Nursi defined the period that the Mahdi of the End Times will emerge as “the period of THE GREATEST MISCHIEF of the End Times” (The Letters, pp. 411-412). Indeed in this period we are in, the greatest mischief of the history is being experienced. Since the time of Prophet Adam (as), there has never been such a great mischief neither in the period of Nimrod nor Pharaoh nor Hulagu. This is the first time that such a great mischief is being experienced. The dajjal of the End Times has emerged. The dajjal is the greatest mischief of world history. To such an extent that throughout history all Prophets sought refuge with Allah from the evil of the dajjal of the End Times. Currently, a greater evil than the sum of all the Pharaohs, Nimrods and dajjals lived throughout history dominates the world. Therefore, of course, Hazrat Mahdi (as) who will come in the End Times is such an important individual and Mahdism is such an important subject that is worth-stressing.
For the first time in history, when such a great dajjal and such severe blasphemy is dominant, talking about the indifference of Mahdism and claiming that Hazrat Mahdi (as) will not come is not in line with Allah’s sunnah revealed in the Qur’an. Our Lord has always created sunnah like this throughout history; there has always been blasphemy, dajjals and the Mahdis against them. However, in this period, when the greatest pharaohs have appeared, saying “there is no Hazrat Mahdi (as), he will not come” is not in line with the logic of the Qur’an. If there is a dajjal, there has to be Hazrat Mahdi (as). Therefore, in such a period, it is not right not to talk about Hazrat Mahdi (as). Because, the solution lies with Mahdism. All the trouble, pain, hardship will come to an end; the irreligiousness that dominates the world will disappear and the nimrods, pharaohs and dajjals will only be defeated by Hazrat Mahdi’s (as) being instrumental in them.
6-The reason behind some people not wanting Hazrat Mahdi (as) to come is the concern of the interests of the life of this world.
The most important reason behind some people, approaching the subject of Mahdism with suspicion and hesitation, and opposing the crystal clear portents of the coming of Hazrat Mahdi (as), is their “seeking their own ends”. Even though the coming of Hazrat Mahdi (as) and the rank of Mahdism is a blessing for all people and he will be instrumental in bringing peace, justice, prosperity, abundance, comfort, opulence and happiness to the whole Islam community, some people still do not want Hazrat Mahdi (as) to come.
By all means, this is a very remarkable and thought-provoking incident. A Muslim should desire the goodness, welfare, union and cooperation of all Muslims and a life full of security and comfort in the world. However, in spite of this, some people are against the coming of the individual who can conduce to that. The reason behind this is no doubt out of one’s desires of his lower-self and not of being on Allah’s side. Some do not want the coming of Hazrat Mahdi (as) and are troubled with talking about Mahdism simply to preserve their established orders, not to create trouble, to live an organized life, not to bring harm to their marriage or social lives; and some in order to attribute being the Mahdi to their own hodjas whom they are subject to and so protect their position and dignity. In addition, they avoid bringing the subject of Hazrat Mahdi (as), by thinking that if Hazrat Mahdi (as) came, they would have to support him, to make many sacrifices, face hardship and troubles along with him, to relinquish their interests in terms of family and business, and to give up their worldly plans of the future.
However it must be known that the condition of these people has been experienced in every period of history and also in the time of our Prophet (saas). In every Muslim community, there has been people who lack faith, who see their self-interests more important than the interests of Islam and who are carried away with the appeal of the life of this world. In the Qur’an, there are many verses about people who stay back on the excuse of family, business or children, when our Prophet (saas) called them to immigrate or to struggle or war. These people saw enduring difficulties and sacrifice with our Prophet (saas) as a nightmare and carefully stayed away.
In the End Times, the condition of those who does not want Hazrat Mahdi (as) to come and to talk about him is no different. While the coming of Hazrat Mahdi (as) is like a blessed light in the eyes of sincere Muslims, people who aim the life of this world fiercely avoid this situation. Allah explains the situation of those in one verse:
If it had been a case of easy gains and a short journey, they would have followed you, but the distance was too great for them. They will swear by Allah: 'Had we been able to, we would have gone out with you.' They are destroying their own selves. Allah knows that they are lying. (Surat at-Tawba, 42)
7- The coming of Hazrat Mahdi (as) is the destiny created by Allah. No effort in opposition can prevent this good tiding to be realized.
In one verse Allah reveals, It is He Who sent His Messenger with guidance and the Religion of Truth (Islam) to exalt it over every other religion, though the idolaters hate it. (Surat as-Saff, 9) This verse shows us one important truth. Neither the struggle of nimrods, pharaoh or dajjals nor the striving of those who have sickness in their hearts or who lack faith can never influence the sunnah of Allah. No matter what, Allah is the One Who fulfils His promises. Allah told that Hazrat Mahdi (as) will come in this century and will honor the religion of Islam, through the hadiths of our Prophet (saas). Allah will fulfill His promise and insha’Allah Hazrat Mahdi (as) will dominate the Qur’anic morality in the world as the moral leader of all Muslims.
