Islamic Influence in Europe

819

Nikolaus Schneider, new Chairman of German Protestant Churches explained that although Europe mainly owns a Jewish and Christian Culture, it was influenced considerably by Islam in the Middle Age.

In his interview to Die Welt, Schneider stressed that it is impossible for a Christian country to host only Christians as the right wing extremists’ demand. He also expressed that this is such a demand that could not be approved by any Christian and stated: “This is such a simple mentality. Europe is not entirely under the influence of Christianity and Judaism for sure. In the Middle Age, Islam affected us in terms of philosophy, natural sciences and mathematics.”
