3000 People Have Converted to Islam

An interview with the sociologist Tina Jensen described the turning towards Islam in Denmark. Jensen carried out research into the subject of Danes converting to Islam and particularly concentrated on the reasons underlying the trend towards Islam in recent years. The report said that there was a move towards Islam because of mixed marriages with Muslims in the 1970s and ‘80s, and that more recently people who had investigated and researched Islam and believed it to be most compatible with their consciences were converting to the faith. One factor noted by Jensen is the unexpected nature of this development: “In the ‘60s interest in religion in Denmark was expected to collapse, but on the contrary an intense interest in religion has arisen.”
